Butterjoint is a comfy bar and restaurant located in North Oakland. Helen opened a take out restaurant in Latrobe, PA a few years later where her popularity exploded. In 1977, Ernie Vallozzi moved his mothers location to Greensburg where it is still open and operating today. In 2012 Ernie's son Julian expanded the tradition in to downtown Pittsburgh. Vallozzi's Pittsburgh has recently joined a mere 1,200 restaurants worldwide as a recipient of the Wine Spectator Magazine's Best of Award of Excellence and is the only Italian restaurant in Pittsburgh to receive such an honor. I was happy that the staff was able to accommodate my request of putting the tables together to accommodate my large party and still separating the checks. My mother had done difficulty navigating all the stairs with her cane. The cornbread was drier than I remember, but everyone else seemed to thoroughly enjoy their food. The presentation of the cake was beautiful and my daughter was very happy. Thank you for a great 19th bday experience.

We had new years brunch here and it was my first time. They were short staffed so I was expecting long delays but the waitress was fantastic, and very knowledgeable, and there were no delays. We shared the pierogis and the salad to start and both were fantastic. Everything is made in house and from local ingredients. The burger, chicken sandwich and pork chop were also top notch. It’s clear they are passionate about quality. We will definitely be back!

This place is a gem! The owner is so welcoming and Melissa our waitress made our whole experience so personal! It was Christmas Eve and a special night for us as a family to be all together and Senti showcased how good Pittsburgh food can be with their crowd pleasing appetizers and the duck which was to die for. Even though it was 9.30 on the night before Christmas we felt very non rushed through our meal and thank the staff for working so hard to make our night so memorable!
