Best Historic Restaurants in Richmond

The Tea at Floris @ the VMFA is just lovely. This was our second visit. We were greeted warmly and seated at our table for 4 near the fireplace. Because we visited close to Valentine's Day, we were offered a special Valentine's Day menu in addition to the regular tea menu. We stuck with the tea menu but added a glass of Cava. We were celebrating a birthday and they were kind enough to bring a piece of red velvet cake to help us celebrate. It was moist and delicious. Our tea started with a pot of Masala Chai and a pot of white tea (cherry blossom) followed by freshly made (still warm) scone and walnut cranberry bread. These were served with their homemade elderberry spread. So delicious!! Next came the tea service - savory sandwiches and a small piece of quiche which was so creamy and eggy - amazing. The sweets on the tray were beautiful to look at and tasty to eat particularly the cream puff. Our server was attentive and knew the menu well. We can't wait to go again.

Food was exquisite. Cooked to perfection. We had the calamari and she crab soup, then the Steak Oscar and my man had the sirloin with a crabcake. The drinks were strong enough and tasted delicious. Try the P.Y.T. and the chocolate cherry kiss, they won't disappoint. He also had the barrel aged old fashioned and said it was the best old fashioned he had ever had. Dessert was the white chocolate bread pudding and the key lime pie; they were fantastic, as well. We were not rushed, we had everything we needed quickly and all the staff were welcoming and friendly. Pricey? Yes but well worth it. This was my 2nd time there, his 1st. We will definitely return!

Although we made reservations, we had to wait 20 minutes for our table. It was a very busy Valentine evening. However, Terrant's downtown is always a great place for a nice meal. The atmosphere is great, and the food and service were excellent. A nice little perk is that if you show them your parking receipt, they will deduct it from your check. This is definitely a great place for lunch or dinner.

The Jefferson is one of the few places that remains as an example of old Richmond and I pray they never change. Just listen to the visitors from all over sitting around me and all you hear are people commenting to each other how delicious their meal is. My wife and I have enjoyed an evening there many times and I have tried several of the meals there. Every time it was exceptional. From their Tenderloin to their Rockfish, each meal was a special event. If you are looking for somewhere for a formal occasion like a special date, anniversary, etc. I highly recommend the Jefferson. It is a bit pricey, but the food and service is second to none.

Excellent experience, the entire staff was friendly and professional. Food was as good as would be expected at a restaurant on this level. Great job by the bartender, best Old Fashion I've had, and there have been many. The Filet Mignon was absolutely perfect. I had the special, stuffed Rockfish and it was great. There is a lot of great competition in this arena and we're looking for the best of Richmond. These guys are on the short list.
