- VVickyLondon •1 review5.0Dined 3 days agoThere is a lot of hype surrounding this restaurant, but for us, it definitely lived up to it. We had already eaten at Merotoro (also great) and Caracol de Mar (pretty good), but Maximo turned out to be the best. It is more expensive than what you would usually expect in Mexico City, but still a great deal compared to the US for the quality. The service was attentive and friendly. The ambience was modern and comfortable. Every table gets a tall candle lit, which my kids got a kick out of. And the food was excellent. There was not a dish we didn’t like, but our favorites were the quail (smoky and juicy), octopus ceviche with guacamole puree and blue corn tostadas, baby corn, and kampachi and tuna sashimi. Everything was so flavorful and complex. We had the chocolate caramel tart with miso ice cream, which was a delicious combination. The best part is that as we were leaving, our kids wanted to watch the kitchen in action (you can see them all working by the entrance) and Eduardo Garcia came out and talked to us for maybe 10 minutes and showed our kids the fresh (salted) black cod that is only found in maybe two restaurants in Mexico because of how rarely they swim down this far south. He also gave us restaurant recommendations. He is such a friendly and hard working chef! We thoroughly enjoyed our experience there and would highly recommend you try it.More infoMaximoPrice: Very Expensive• Global, International• Condesa / Roma•4.7
