Butterjoint is a comfy bar and restaurant located in North Oakland. Our menu is a mixture of familiar Pittsburgh foods (think pierogies, hamburgers, French fries) and French bistro classics (beef tartare, raclette, mussels), and seasonal classics that come and go throughout the year. We put care into our vegetarian dishes too, including making our own tempeh, falafel, and veggie patties from scratch. Menu items change frequently--usually every day--and reflect many long-standing relationships we have with farms and breweries in our region. In addition to reservations, we also have a thirty seat bar that is first come, first serve. We don’t know exactly how old the bar is, but it’s at least seventy years old (probably older) and very cozy. Our friendly bartenders are here to make something you like.

    Eleven is definitely always one of my favorite and I am certainly come back. For this visit on Sunday night, all the dishes were outstanding. However, the only thing I gave 3 points was service. The timing between salad course and entree was longer than normal. Also our server seemed forget about us as he passed by the table 3 times but never stop to check in with us when we finished all the entrees. Also a long waiting for the desserts, it tooks 15mins for the dessert to hit the table.

    We absolutely loved our food. From the starters to dessert was amazing! Our waitress was great, great suggestions, funny, silly. We really enjoyed her. We were a little disappointed that we had to wait 25 minutes after our reservation time but the good food made up for it. I was enjoying my food so much, I forgot to take pictures!

    The food (Caesar salads and Beef Wellington) was delicious. Great cocktails and wine. The server was very good and treated us well, which we appreciated, but she was also very busy and so didn’t have time to check in very often. We enjoyed our experience and would definitely recommend Meat and Potatoes.
