Established in 1959, owners Jenny Youll and Mike Sabina expanded the once small coffeehouse of St. Michaels Alley into this intimate dining establishment in 2009. The restaurant provides three comfortable spaces for a dinner out with friends, date night, or a complete private event. The main dining room is wood paneled and intimate. The front room / bar area is more casual and social, yet still offers tables with linens and the full menu. The solid wood bar is a favorite dining spot for many of the regulars and locals.     We got a seat at the bar ordered cocktails and small dishes. Everything was uniformly excellent. The barkeeper was knowledgeable and made a beautifully balanced Manhattan. The small dishes recommonded were all tasty and of high quality. Overall the only reason to dock a star is that Nobu is expensive (big surprise). But if you are not cost sensitive, then this is an excellent place for high quality drinks and light dishes. Recommended.

    Meyhouse Palo Alto is an excellent restaurant for Turkish Mediterranean food. The food was really exceptional. They make their own delicious creamy yogurt which they use in dishes. So if you enjoy yogurt, you will love this place and they have unique salads and excellent fish on the menu. The food is super healthy and delicious. I definitely want to go back for more. They have a full bar and excellent Turkish wines. The restaurant is also nicely designed. But it can get a little noisy in some places where there might be larger groups.
