Best Open Kitchen Restaurants in Leather District

We stopped at Downtown Crossing for dinner before a show. The service was great. Colin, our waiter, was attentive and knowledgeable. I have a food allergy and he was able to offer alternatives to protect me. My meal was brought out separately so as to avoid any cross-contamination. The Manager was personable, friendly and had a great sense of humor. We will return there the next time we go into town. The prices were very reasonable, the food was excellent. We truly enjoyed ourselves.

Went for lunch around 1PM on a Saturday and they gave us (a family with kids!) a nice table by the window. Had meatballs and octopus appetizers and both were good, but octopus was superlative. I had the boar/porcini tagliatelle and wife had gnocchi. Both were excellent. Kids and wife finished with bread pudding and it was delicious as well. I had an espresso martini that was fantastic for my dessert. Not a single complaint with food or atmosphere and service was on point. Only possible issue was it did seem a bit overpriced for some items, but by the time I left full and happy, I didn’t care.

Terra is an absolute masterpiece of a restaurant! The Italian food here is nothing short of spectacular—every dish is crafted to perfection, and the flavors are unforgettable. The wine selection is equally impressive, with thoughtful pairings that elevate the dining experience to a whole new level. A special shoutout to our server, Vinicius, who made the evening truly extraordinary. His knowledge of the menu, attention to detail, and warm, professional demeanor added so much to our experience. He went above and beyond to ensure everything was perfect, and we left feeling absolutely spoiled. Very good experience - delicious food, somewhat pricey, but the rotisserie chicken, including in the soup, was extraordinary. The soup should be available in a bowl, not just a cup! Energetic vibe, beautiful decor, but there should be additional large tables (not high tops) available for business lunches. Overall the space is relatively small, so table placement is key and there are more "common" high tops than standard tables - great for drinks and casual lunches, but not necessarily business dining.

I think this is the best restaurant food in Boston right now, really outstanding. The wine program is exclusively Greek, the list is huge, the grape varieties unfamiliar and unpronounceable, but the waitstaff is extremely knowledgeable and helpful. The restaurant struggles to keep wines in stock; I ordered two bottles that were not available that night. The place is crowded and noisy, the patrons generally young and hip, lots of fun.
