   What a shocking and terrible experience. We were celebrating a special birthday and were looking forward to having the 5 course menu. The hotel receptionist greeted us warmly and we were seated on the patio with our two dogs. Unfortunately, our experience went downhill from there. Our server, George, was cold and aloof from the start. We were barely on the second course when he suddenly started yelling at us in front of the other patrons that our dog barked at him. We didn’t hear our dog bark and we were startled by his loud and offensive behavior. Our dog is a medium sized Golden Retriever mix and is one of the sweetest, friendliest dogs who has never attacked anyone. Even if our dog had barked, he could have let us know calmly instead of making a scene. He didn’t apologize for his rudeness but instead continued to berate us. We could not believe what was happening and asked to speak to the manager. He said he was the manager and was in charge of the restaurant. At that point, our dinner was ruined and we decided to leave. We called the Mirabelle Inn which is where the restaurant is located and the person who answered said that George is a server not a manager. Not only did George lie to us, he also ruined our dinner celebration. We then walked over to Mad & Vin which is a beautiful restaurant in the Landsby hotel. We didn’t have a reservation but the staff warmly welcomed us including our dogs. We had a wonderful dinner and birthday celebration there, and we highly recommend this restaurant. We do not recommend First & Oak because of their cold, snooty and arrogant attitude. From the little we ate, the cauliflower was very good but the tuna crudo was bland. We visited several Santa Ynez establishments with our dogs on this trip including Sunstone, Roblar and Gainey wineries and had wonderful experiences at all these dog friendly places. First & Oak who claim to be dog friendly is the first place we had such an unpleasant experience and we will not be going back.

   One of the best meals that I’ve ever had! The 5 course tasting menu was amazing and the wine pairing complemented it so well. The service was impeccable. Will definitely be back!

   We did the three course fixed price dinner. The tuna was a great appetizer - followed by what was essentially gourmet Mac and Cheese (delicious)! We got two different desserts the cheesecake and the chocolate - both were great. I would return!

   We had the 5 course meal and as patrons with high expectations, everything was delicious! A wonderful experience. Service was lovely. We both agreed the wine pairing was subpar, and we should have ordered our own wine. But definitely recommend the meal!

   We stayed at Mirabelle Inn so it was convenient to dine there. The food was delicious and unique. It was a fixed menu. You can decide between the three course or five course. My husband and I got the three course and ordered opposite dishes so we could try everything. My meat dish was really good. His halibut was a little dry so the pasta may have been a better choice. The service was wonderful although I do have to say we were the only ones in the small restaurant this Sunday night.

   This place is everything it’s meant to be. The food is amazing. Service is impeccable. Pretty casual for a such high level dining and that’s what makes its better.

    Beautiful space wonderful service lovely meal. The ladies at the table begging us kind of killed the ambiance with their loud and boisterous conversation which kind of overtook the whole space.. but never the less the experience was great. The roasted cauliflower with truffle and filet was 5 stars and the chocolate mousse with honeycomb was delightful.
