I met my work mate here for dinner. The gin & tonics were £14 each and the beer £7 each which bumped the bill up to £122 for the drinks and 2 schnitzels and service charge. It is a lovely setting and feels spacious. Expensive tho. We enjoyed it but wouldn't rush back unlesss it was a special treat. It was busy for a Tuesday which shows the food is good.

Food was great - but the service was very mediocre and slow.

We had an incredible dining experience at the German Gymnasium ! From the clean, well designed atmosphere to the friendly, attentive staff, everything felt inviting. But the real star of the show was the schnitzel—crispy on the outside, tender and juicy on the inside, and perfectly seasoned. It was easily one of the best schnitzels I’ve ever had. Served with traditional sides and a refreshing beer, it was a true comfort meal done right. I’ll definitely be back!

A stunning setting with a cool and respectful atmosphere. The staff are very friendly and professional, always willing to help and serve. The food is amazing, tasty and well presented, along with a great selection for all palate types. Yes people may think the prices are a little high for some of the dishes (sausage and mash) but they are well prices for the quality of the food and most definitely cheaper than if you was to order the same meal in Zürich or Germany….. 100% I’d recommend this restaurant for anyone who’s considering attending. We were a party of 8 and there was not one complaint from anyone, all said they’d like to return and try more of the dishes available. The only problem is what to chose for your meal and dessert, there’s so many options that it’s hard to make a choice, there’s schnitzels are amazing and the Black Forest Gateau is a must!!! We’d like to thank the restaurant for their hospitality and making our friends 50th birthday one to remember. Thank you!!!

The restaurant has a nice vibe, but it's quite crowded and noisy. There is constant traffic around the table. Our waitress was fantastic, very conscientious about a noted allergy, which was greatly appreciated.

Our party of five dined here last Thursday. Meals were: 2 burgers, 1 Kässler, 1 Viener schnitzel, 1 chicken schnitzel. One burger and the Kässler arrived cold - they were replaced quite quickly and the price taken off the bill. The Viener was tough - it too was not charged. So, two out of five were ok - hence my rating. A great shame. We used to really enjoy The German Gymnasium, but after this experience, I doubt we’ll be back.

I booked for 9 people to dine for work colleagues. Although it’s a big restaurant we we squeezed on to a table with a 9th place pit on the end . Really poor show . Initial waiter was extremely rude, no introduction to the menu, no idea about the wine and no offer to get someone who did. Actually heard him tut when we decided to go for some breads before the main main. The food itself was lovely as was the wine . The building and ambience is lovely , but you certainly get the sense they really pile the people in and feels very crammed on the ground floor. Probably won’t go back due to the service , which is ashame.

Lovely drinks and light dinner on the terrace. As always, it was a good experience. Coming back later in the summer!
