Another pleasant meal here at the German Gymnasium with friends today. Great service, interesting menu and comfortable surroundings. What's not to like.

Service was very good as was the ambience. The large table in the corner was perfect for our group. Food was good but not spectacular, perhaps expectations were higher / different for the type of cuisine. Nevertheless, we had a great night overall.

So I booked a table to surprise my daughter on her 40th before she left for Paris on the Eurostar. the booking asked if it was for special even.t I selected the birthday option and the set menu optionwe. The set menu option was not available at the restaurant, so we settled on a three course + drinks from the menu. Begs the question why have the set menu option on the booking form if you no longer deliver it. Ok, yes the food was good but the event was embarassing for me as a father, as we were there so long (actually it was four courses) I hoping that my daughtes birthday would be recognised during the desert. In the end and there was no mention of a birthday or anything so we paid and left. The cost was £136 in total. Great food, but not the experience I was hoping for!!

It's a lovely space but they really cram you in. Didn't feel like there were enough waiting staff - we waited over 20 mins to even be offered some water or the wine list. Staff were nice but it was really hard to get their attention. Food was then rushed out and average, 16 quid for a small portion of currywurst is a bit outrageous but I guess you pay for the ambience and location.

It was incredibly cold in the restaurant, we were sat downstairs. No heating on at all, moved up stairs, we left at 16.30 and it was just getting warm. Double check the menu before you go, very little for non pork eaters, or non meat eaters. The food was good and hot which helped warm us up. Wait staff had no interaction with guests with the exception of the floor manager (female) who was working on the upper level, she was the one who moved us. My pet hate, a waiter leaning over you and the table to serve another guest, they could move around the whole table, why do that??

Initially moved from next to the front door where we could feel the cold wind to next to the toilet door. We had to deal with toilet paper being brought out on peoples shoes and not one member of staff thought to clear that up or even check what was happening in the toilets for these pieces of toilet paper to find their way outside 😔 n the restaurant floor. Anyway, food was tasty albeit slow coming out of the kitchen and sides turned up long after the main had turned up and we had to ask for them so that was disappointing. Our Sardinian waitress was great and attentive. Probably won't go back but had a nice time with our friends even though it gave us a few things to moan about.

This was a dreadful experience. One of our party has a severe food allergy, which we mentioned at the time of booking, and they refused to serve us.
