GCOB is an institution! Our server Rudy was wonderful. It was a busy holiday dining event. So appreciate GCOB.

Hostess that sat us needs a refresher course in her behavior. Hostess when we left was much better and friendly.

The food was mediocre at best. There was only one server for the whole place - we only saw him twice in the hour and a half we were there. Would not recommend.

Today, a colleague and I enjoyed our 25th ? (there about) annual holiday lunch in the Saloon at the Oyster Bar. As always, we split a dozen of the tastiest oysters you can find and followed with a splendid piece of fish. He enjoyed a perfectly prepared Monk Fish and I a most wonderfully grilled Bronzino with the consistently delicious vegetable medley. We don't go for value (hard to find at $35+ for a standard lunch entree) but for a scrumptious meal, wonderful ambiance, attentive wait staff and our annual chat.

Not the friendliest of welcomes. Food is ok but not exceptional. The ambience and architecture are definitely worth a visit and if you’re looking for an informal evening out with friends this is a good venue. Don’t expect warm and attentive service (until you get to the cheque part..) but then if you’re here I guess you’re not bothered. Good for casual dining.

Completely unreasonable for (a) a famed oyster place to serve very oyster dish with shards of shell and (b) to sit and wait for your meal for over an hour.

SLOW service, the blood line was left in the fried catfish, so some bites were very fishy tasting
