Greens is open for indoor and outdoor dining, with take out available online or at our in-house kiosk. When reserving a table outdoors, we recommend bringing a jacket that is suitable for wind and chilly weather. Our heated dining pavilion is in front of the Greens building.

    I've been to Greens at least 50 times over the last three decades--often treating visitors to the view, the food, the ethic and the vibe. This will be my last visit. Service, which is often indifferent and haphazard, has descended into the realm of disqualifying. On a cold night, we were given the only parklet table without a hanging warming light above. Service began slowly and got worse, but then was jammed into "fast forward" when a main was brought before we were even halfway through our starters. Well, at least we could warm ourselves with three hot dishes at once! We had to make extra effort to get someone to pay attention to bring us new plates, and those took a long time to come. (To get new plates later, we simply retrieved some from an empty table, while stacking our dirty dishes on our table like you'd do at a school cafeteria.) The food--ever more expensive--was of the B- / C+ sort. I won't go into the specifics, other than to say you could break a plate-glass window with the samosas. Meanwhile, when it was clear we were having a rough time, our sever complained about the restaurant's "staffing". Thanks for the insight! And then, when the check was produced, we were offered free desserts to make things better. When we said, "No thanks, " she returned with an offer for free drinks. At that point didn't feel like accepting the bribe. The coda of the evening was another overburdened server, while walking into the back "room" for a gallery party, dropping a huge tray of stuff on the pavement: a sonic car crash. One countervailing note: the som was an absolutely lovely guy (Eddy? Freddie?) in a lumberjack shirt, who was super helpful, deeply knowledgeable, and friendly. Sadly, he's the exception that proves the rule at Greens. Never again.

    I've been eating at Greens since the 1980's. They continue to provide an excellent and memorable dining experience. This was an anniversary dinner and again Greens didn't disappoint. We arrived in time to catch the sunset viewed through the huge bay windows that face the Golden Gate. Our server kindly provided a little champagne for the celebration. So very nice. We ordered some wine and the mushroom pate small plate. The addition of sour cherries to the pate added a nice sweet to the savory. The kale fatoosh salad was very tasty mix of cauliflower and kale, marinated onions, pepitatas and tahini dressing. Very good. The Filo Risotto rolls with white beans was very savory with a nice crunch from the fried filo. The Shawarma Spiced Grilled Cabbage was very tasty with a garlicy sauce sided by chickpeas and diced sweet potatoes. Service was excellent and the food arrived at a good pace to enjoy the experience. We didn't have room for dessert but the Chocolate Bread Pudding looked very tempting. We are looking forward to our next anniversary dinner at Greens.

    Greens is no longer a good place to eat. Menu is quirky and food isn’t that good. Hard to find something basic to order. Noise level was off the charts with decibel numbers really high as measured on my app.

    After many, many years of dining here when I visit SF, Greens remains one of the best, most satisfying meals I enjoy every time. That it’s plant-based, long before it was cool, only adds to its deserved spot among SF classics.

    This was the first time we've eaten at Greens and we were impressed! The views from the tables by the window were magnificent. The food was stellar and our server was kind and attentive. We will be back! Highly recommend.

    Even with the many excellent vegan and vegatarian restaurants in the Bay Area, Greens remains a standout for the quality, taste, and uniqueness of their food and drink. I hadn’t been in almost a decade and it is still as phenomenal now as ever.

    Founder Deborah Madison would be appalled by the food I was served for lunch today, and for which I shelled out $40. One of the worst meals I’ve had recently, Grilled cauliflower sandwich: tasteless, floury bun, a thin piece of cauliflower that was limp and flavorless, a few pieces of arugula and a minuscule amount of sautéed red onion. Even adding a considerable amount of salt did nothing for this abomination. Just plopped on the plate with a pathetic salad consisting of carrot chunks and more limp cauliflower. No eye appeal at all and we were still hungry afterwards. The cranberry pistachio frangiapane tart was edible but nothing to remember. So disappointed…have had many interesting and delicious meals here but this wasn’t one of them. This place is running on its reputation, the view, and fumes. They should be ashamed to put that on a plate and charge you for it.
