In 1979, after over 20 years of experience in the restaurant industry, Joe Impastato opened Impastato’s in Metaire. Only 5 years before, his brother Sal opened Sal and Judy’s in Lacombe. Now the family of restaurants extends to Madisonville with the opening of Impastato Cellars on September 5, 2013. The Impastato family decided to bring the same traditional, authentic Italian cuisine to the table on the Northshore along with the old world ambiance of a 600 square foot wine cellar featuring over 400 labels, in addition to a wide variety of spirits and craft beers.

Our reservation through Open Table was confirmed for 6 pm. We arrived early and our table was not ready. Upon asking about the delay, we were told any minute as the table was still occupied. Our party of 6 stood in the very crowded waiting/check in area for 40 minutes. One of our guests had to sit after feeling dizzy. Perhaps we could have at least been offered a drink at the bar on the house. At 6:40 pm we were brought to our table. At 6:50 our server stopped by to get our drink order and said the busboy would be getting water for us. We finally got water at 7 pm. The Shrimp Au Gratin appetizer was very good. The fettuccini Alfredo was quite bland and somewhat dry. The entrees were average. We did not finish our meals until 9:30, and asked for desserts (that came with the meal) to be boxed as it was so late. We finally received corrected checks and left the restaurant at 9:40 pm. It was a disappointing experience as I had truly been looking forward to trying this restaurant.

Bi monthly dinner Love this restaurant. Everything is great. Best value in town. Always feel we are part of family. Going to families home for dinner.

Everything was EXCELLENT, food & service. The only downfall was the hostess. She is an elderly lady with a sourpuss attitude! She was extremely rude when we arrived. And that is the initial impression. We had a reservation but 3 people had the flu and were not able to attend. I tried calling more than once to change it, but no one answered the phone. So upon our entrance, we told them. She was RUDE and absolutely unprofessional. And she remained that way till we were seated. I’m sure she must be family, because if you read the reviews she is complained about frequently! The management needs to talk to her about her attitude. Some people might just leave after having to deal with her!
