   This was our first time since renovation. We will not be returning. The service was lousy, they did not clear empty plates and when they brought more plates they would just hand them to us to find a spot on the table ourselves (so tacky). We ordered an expensive bottle of wine and the glasses they brought both had spots and had to be exchanged. Worst of all, the food was very underwhelming, we had a party of 8 with a wide variety of food and none of us were impressed. Mediocre fajitas served in a cold bowl, Chilean sea bass that smelled fishy, overcooked filet mignon. Even the warm chips served up front were too hard, the guacamole was mediocre. In Newport where there is a wide selection of excellent restaurants, I doubt this location will do well. I certainly will be enjoying the many other top service and outstanding food at the other nearby restaurants.

   Manager was rude Requested booth for 2 birthdays on reservation in advance Restaurant was NOT BUSY saw several booths open and people about to leave. Parking lot and valet almost empty drove right up and valets were great parked car upfront no problem Manager and hostesses have bad attitude Guests said the same manager vas extremely RUDE Do not recommend SERVICE FAILURE JAVIER’s people and manager have forgotten the word service bad attitude Guests said will not go back I will not go back You can have great food and great location but Bad service and attitude ruins everything. When you forget service and being Nice to your customers, the first rule of business, Javier’s is on the road to failure by your own choice. If the Manager has a bad and rude attitude, it reflects in his employees like sharing a bottle of poison. This manager should immediately be given two choices an immediate demotion to dishwasher or there is the front door goodbye. We left and had an excellent dinner with wonderful service at Louie’s by the Bay - 5 stars highly recommend Avoid Javier’s unless you want to be treated like dirt!

   I was expecting the food quality to be better. I ordered chili Verde and it was mediocre. The rice was dry. And the beans were tasteless. We also requested a window seat in order to see the ocean. You can't really see the ocean. The architects error was not raising the floor height by one more foot. This would have provided spectacular ocean views. In addition, the tables near the west windows are too close together. I don't want to share my conversation with people sitting so close to me. This is ridiculous for a high end restaurant. You don't need to have the tables so close. You are making plenty of money. So spread them out a little.

    We went on a Saturday night to celebrate a friends birthday...crazy busy with out of towners, not my regular experience at this restaurant. Overall though, we had a fabulous time, great service, good food! Expensive for Mexican food, but they do have the best guacamole in town!
