About this restaurant

  • Good for special occasions
  • Neighborhood gem
  • Good for groups
Established in 2003, King’s Fish House is Carlsbad’s choice for seafood. Located just across from the Carlsbad Premium outlets and LEGOLAND, King’s Fish House features a large selection of fresh oysters, seasonal catches, sushi and live shellfish, including lobster and crab, on a menu that changes daily.

We’ve been in restaurants a little while – three generations, to be precise. A long time ago, we embarked on a road trip in search of the ultimate seafood experience. We traveled down highways and byways, pulled up a seat, put on bibs and soaked up the seafood experience: the no-name dishes with unforgettable flavor, the fresh-caught oysters and clams piled high, the hand-lettered specials on ancient chalkboards and the savory simmer of every combination of spices imaginable.

Welcome to the House that Seafood Built.

Come gather with us, celebrate, relax and enjoy a seafood dining experience of high quality, comfort, service and value.

We were seated at a booth by the service station. Very noisy with talk amongst the managers and servers. Oysters were great. I had salmon slightly overdone. And three color carrots burned. My wife had the crusted Seabass very good. B but the carrots were burned. How can you put burn carrots on a plate? How can no one see these before it gets to the customer.? Our server was polite and efficient . I would be embarrassed to bring someone here for the first time.

I always enjoy going to King’s. Food and service were as good as they have always been! We hadn’t been there for a long time but due to an unexpected emergency, we were unable to celebrate Easter at home. So we made reservations and went to King’s.

Our server Stephanie was great! She made sure we got our salad dressing on the side and got our choice for the sauce on the halibut correct. Everything was delicious, as usual.

Specifically asked for a quiet booth near a window, away from large parties. Arrived 5 minutes before reservation & would have waited for the table I requested. Was given a dark booth next to the bar, next to a table with 12+ people. Brought this to the attention of the host AND the person that seated us , who appeared to be a manager. They said that was all they had available, thus King’s Fish House completely ignored the request on the reservation. There were several booths outside, which would’ve been preferable to the dark booth next to a loud party with crying babies. Food was average at best. Garlic mashed potatoes were tasteless, over whipped at the top, and solid potatoes at the bottom that weren’t whipped at all, like a slice of hard, uncooked potato. side salad was awful, a handful of mixed greens with a shaving of a cucumber. Pretty disappointed, was looking forward to having seafood.

Very enjoyable experience with friends from out of town. Menu is extensive and well prepared. One of the few places locally offering Chilean Sea Bass. Particular kudos to our server Alexandra (Alex). She was well-informed on the menu, made excellent recommendations and was VERY attentive.

Excellent food and drink and service. Delicious fish and the baked potato was wonderful. Nice selection of wine. The desserts were good too. But sitting out on the patio was chilly. Asked the waiter what they do if we get too cold and he pointed to an overhead heater which really wouldn’t have reached us adequately. Then he added that they had blankets as well if needed. That was the best answer. It was fairly chilly but I never needed the blankets, but my husband was cold and he put his jacket on and was ok. Great restaurant!!

I loved the sushi and the waitress, was so great on telling me her favorites, The Mhai Mahi, the trout almondine, Perfect to know you can bring in a bottle of wine with no corkage. Can't wait to tell my friends.
