"The place where New Yorkers eat"
Knickerbocker is known for its great Jazz and its 28 oz. T- Bone Steaks and is a favorite among many celebrities including F. Murray Abraham, Chris Noth and Alec Baldwin. Racheal Ray listed us in her "NYC Favorites" and has praised our Shrimp Cocktail, Creamed Spinach, and of course our T- Bone Steaks.
The word "Knickerbocker" itself, says "New York". Upon entering, you’ll know you're in the Village. Its wood paneled walls sport rare turn of the century posters and original caricatures by Al Hirschfeld. Large leather booths line the walls and brass rails accent the 100 year old marble bar, where Charles Lindbergh signed his Trans Atlantic contract.
We have survived the times by using the freshest ingredients from local markets, and offering good solid value and quality.

This was not worth the hype or the money. Yes the steak was good and so was the soufflé but that was pretty much it. To other reviews, the lobster bisque was in fact very bland and underwhelming. We only got three pieces of shrimp (other reviews said four) and it was basically tomato soup. There were no pieces/chunks of lobster. I read a response from the company that they use “lobster shells” but for the price of it… that’s just not enough. Cafe Zupas has a better lobster bisque for significantly less money. The corn bread in the bread basket was good too. We asked for (and were upcharged $4.95) for truffle mashed potatoes and were originally served regular mashed potatoes and when we asked the waiter about it, he took our cup of mashed potatoes back to the kitchen and brought it back with truffle just mixed in to what we had already been served. For that price, to not get fresh ones is kind of bull to me. The steak was very good and served well. The creamed spinach was disgusting but the coupe behind us liked it so maybe just an us issue. The chocolate soufflé for two was divine though. Would only really recommend that. So eat dinner elsewhere then go there for soufflé.

Fun dinner at Knickerboacker last night. Great service and noise level is just right! Delicious steak smells came from nearby table, but we are light eaters, so we had the ckicken paillard and one of us had salmon. Both dishes were delicious, warm, and ample. The smoked salmon and potato pancake appetizer was tasty and really prepped the appetite for the main courses. Even the carbonated water had just the right amount of bubbles. We will continure to be regulars at this very comfortable eatery!

Always so wonderful, such a lovely neighborhood spot (food, ambience & staff). I love it so much, especially at the holiday times like Halloween, Thanksgiving & Christmas. All the best for the season and for 2025 . Jeff and Jenine and Clea

My friends and I go to the Knickerbocker annually at Christmastime--it is our tradition for several years now. We go there because we know the food, the service and the ambiance will also be consistently excellent. I also love that it's still old-school New York in style and ambiance. Also great job with the soundproofing as you can actually have a conversation without shouting. I highly recommend the Snowball to finish off your meal. A+++++
