Kokkari (pronounced “Ko-Kar-ee”) is a small fishing village located on the islands of Samos in the Aegean Sea, whose name is derived from the small onions that were once produced in the nearby fields. Its fertile soil and Mediterranean climate translated into an abundance of fresh produce as well as treasured seafood and game. Legend tells that Kokkari is the site where Orion, a mighty hunter and a young man of gigantic stature and great beauty, fell in love with the daughter of the king of Chios. For the love of her, Orion forged the island for wild game and seafood to prepare elaborate banquets in celebration of their love. Today, we hope you will enjoy your own celebration as you dine at Kokkari Estiatorio on food “fit for the Gods” prepared with an Aegean palate and the style of innovative California fare.

What a great rediscovery, delish food, opened for a late lunch. Fabulous place to go in the winter, when they have the pigs roasting in the main dining room. Fantastic service.

I used to love this place, then I moved abroad for 20 years, but went here again, and it is just as good as I remember!! grilled perfection! the dining room is cozy and warm, the booth seats comfortable. our server was the best - attentive but not intrusive - he really did an outstanding job (don't recall his name but has worked there 9 years and has 2 little kids, brown hair with some facial hair - shout out to him - he did a great job!) appetizers arrived lightning fast - aubergine and warm pita, grilled stuffed calamari(YUM), lamb meatballs (nomnomnom), baked gigante beans. mains were lamb skewers (yum) and branzino(5star), which was insanely delish and highly recommended. dessert was baklava, which I don't normally love, but theirs was sooo good and spicy, I highly recommend, and we got an ice cream sundae which was enormous and tasty. im so pleased Kokkari is still around and better than ever. great meal - thanks to the entire team!! can't wait to go back !!

Starters were delicious. Though, very meager portions for the price. The rotissery lamb was very tough and served at room temperature. For $58, i was expecting a better cook and to be served hot.

Love Kokkari, they will never disappoint you. From the food to the ambiance and service! Enjoyed the whole fish sea bream dish, booming with flavors., the fish is surrounded with fennel, Kalamata olives, roasted tomatoes and potatoes., just pure heaven!

Always a great time at Kokkari, however was disappointed that they ran out of sour dough bread and petrale sole. A restaurant of that quality shouldn’t run out of essential items to their menu.
