The Longest Standing Restaurant In Greektown, DetroitBrothers Niko and Vasili Dionysopoulos came to America in the late 60’s. They started by selling produce to the Greek churches and then to the businesses in Greektown. They opened Apollo Market on Harper Ave in 1968 till 1970. Then they purchased the Golden Fleece on April 7th 1970. They worked ’till the late 2000’s. Their sons Spero and Yanni took over the family business and remodeled the building and concept after 50 years to continue to give Metro Detroit the authentic Greek experience and hospitality. The server didn’t explain anything in the beginning regarding what side dishes are included or that we could request lamb chops til late after we were filling up. He knew nothing about where the thanksgiving food are was. Our drinks sat empty including water until we asked a different server. He never offered desert. We joked that that we helped him by us upselling our own check. Our check was $233, and we still left a $45 tip because we felt bad for his bad service.

Every facet of this meal was outstanding from start to finish. The food was off the charts, the service unmatched, and the atmosphere wonderful. And, being a matter of feet from the Christmas tree downtown was an added plus. I can’t recommend this enough.

My wife and I went on a Thursday evening. It was quiet. The restaurant has a beautiful ambiance and we can't wait to come back when there's live music. The waitress was friendly and attentive. I had the ribeye and lobster and she had the duck. We both were pleased. Looking forward to our next meal here.
