The menu follows a Southern-fried meat-and-three concept, meaning diners order a meat, plus three sides. Those will include Ruthie’s mac and cheese, of course, but also white-soy-braised greens, stewed chickpeas and smoked cauliflower with a spicy soy glaze. “We’re going to be changing it a lot based on seasonality,” Hill says of the menu. “ Every vegetable has got to be fantastic because it has to stand on its own.” One thing that will help that: Hill is already growing all of the restaurant’s own herbs at his South Arlington community garden plot.

    Haven't been here in a few years and came because of DC Restaurant week. The place was packed and had amazing energy for a Monday night. The menu selections were great. The food was fantastic, generous portions, great value. First experienced Filomena in 1985 and delighted it's still here, same owner, fantastic food and Amaretto at the end. Great time. Brought back great memories. Will come here more often. What a delight.

    Great time at La Grande Boucherie celebrating our anniversary! We went during resturaunt week and I was suprised at the large portions we received! Our server, Orlando, was spectacular and really made it a great experience. And of course the interior was beautiful! Highly recommended.

    It would be impossible to walk away from a meal feeling hungry. We tried Ruthie’s during Restaurant Week for lunch ($25 pp). I had Brunswick Stew, Smoked Brisket with greens and Mac and Cheese. Hubby had tuna tartar, chicken tenders with fries and arugula fennel salad. Plus dessert. It was even too much for him! Waiter was extremely attentive in a good way. There were a couple of errors but they were fixed immediately. It was a bit loud but we could still chat. If you really like southern comfort food, this is the place to go! We will definitely return.
