The Greenhead Hotel was taken over in June 2020 by local proprietor Jordan Dodwell & his partner Anna Pearson. Our monthly menu showcases the best the local area has to offer featuring things like hogget reared in the village and wild garlic picked from local woodland. Our bar is stocked with locally brewed hand pulled ales, a wide variety of spirits and a good selection on tap with bar snacks alongside at the weekend. New for this year we now have a beautiful outdoor seating and dining area where you can catch the afternoon and early evening sun while trying to spot every one of Tom’s 32 fish (they’re not on the menu though!)

    We received a voucher for Blackfriars for Christmas. Booking was easy online. We arrived slightly early but our table was ready. The restaurant was not busy when we arrived and enjoyed the background music. Service was very good and we asked if we could mix and match between the menu’s and they said it was fine to do that. We ordered the fish platter to share which was really nice. I ordered the fillet steak, it was perfectly cooked to the way I like it and the chips were amazing, I ordered the beef dripping jus which was delicious. My husband ordered the corn fed chicken, again this was delicious. We had no room for desert so can’t comment on that. My husband also had the larger brewed onsite which he said was very nice. Only fault I would say is they put a service charge of 10% on your bill but it is explained it is not mandatory. Definitely will be back.

    Fantastic evening in this iconic country pub on the outskirts of Carlisle, in the quaint village of low Crosby. Warm welcome as always, great cozy atmosphere with friendly staff and great selection of real ales. Delicious flat iron steak cooked to perfection. Can’t recommend this establishment enough.

    Nice atmosphere, great service and food sublime, halloumi fries and teriyaki chicken to start, then steak burger, and 2 rump fillets cooked on stones, quality is second to none, the toffee sundae, sticky toffee pudding and white chocolate cheesecake, really enjoyable evening, will definitely return
