- VVALERIEHawaii •1 review5.0Dined 1 day agoI would highly recommend this restaurant. Excellent food. I had the fish and chips my husband had the pork belly. Both were excellent. A great twist on fish and chips. With the eggplant fries and tomatoe sauce with the fish. Exellent drinks. Wonderful presentation of both food and drinks! Five star for us.More infoGatherPrice: Expensive• Contemporary Italian• Kelowna•4.8

From the moment we stepped inside, the ambiance was sophisticated and inviting. The decor was elegant, creating the perfect setting for a special occasion. Our evening began with a celebratory glass of Dom Perignon, setting the tone for a truly luxurious dining experience. We started with a delightful beet salad, followed by a classic Prawn Cocktail – both beautifully presented and bursting with flavor. For the main course, we indulged in a 10 oz Striploin with Brandy Peppercorn Sauce and a 6 oz Tenderloin with blue cheese. Both cuts were cooked to perfection, tender and juicy. The accompanying broccolini and baby potatoes were perfectly seasoned and complemented the rich flavors of the steaks. We paired this with an amazing bottle of GD Varja. The service was impeccable. Our server, Chris D, was a true professional with a captivating handlebar mustache. He was attentive, knowledgeable, and ensured our every need was met. The Maitre'd, Mike E, demonstrated exceptional attention to detail, ensuring a seamless and enjoyable dining experience. We had the pleasure of meeting the owner, Ross Derrick, who shared the inspiring story of how he opened the restaurant to honor his father's legacy. It was clear that passion and dedication were poured into every aspect of the establishment. To cap off the evening, we shared the decadent Chocolate Silk cake, a perfect ending to a truly memorable meal. Overall: Derrick's Steakhouse is a must-visit for any discerning diner in Kelowna. The exceptional food, impeccable service, and elegant ambiance make it a truly special occasion destination. We highly recommend it and extend our congratulations to Ross Derrick on the successful launch of this impressive new enterprise. During our visit, we were fortunate to be served by Meredith, whose professionalism and appropriately attentive service elevated the evening. She ensured we felt welcomed and well cared for without being intrusive—a delicate balance that truly enhances the dining experience. We started with the Caesar salad, which was a delightful twist on a classic. The crisp romaine, creamy dressing, and perfectly seasoned croutons hit all the right notes. Next, we indulged in the duck spring rolls—a standout appetizer. The rolls were crisp and golden on the outside, with tender, flavorful duck filling that was perfectly complemented by a tangy dipping sauce. For the main course, we enjoyed the Beef and Broccoli noodle dish, which showcased a harmonious blend of tender beef, vibrant broccoli, and rich umami flavors. The noodles were perfectly cooked, adding just the right texture to this well-balanced dish. To accompany our meal, we opted for the Mt. Boucherie Syrah, a local wine that paired beautifully with the depth of flavors on our plates. Its bold yet smooth profile was the perfect match for the richness of the duck and beef dishes. Skinny Duke’s seamlessly combines a nostalgic vibe with inventive cuisine and impeccable service. It’s a must-visit for anyone looking for a memorable dining experience in Kelowna.
