- EEllisSurrey •1 review5.0Dined 6 days ago“I can’t stand people who do not take food seriously.” Oscar Wilde Well in our case we do take our food very seriously and The River Restaurant has never failed to deliver seriously good food. We’ve been coming here over a number of years and have yet to find anything negative to say about the establishment. The food has always been top notch backed by an incredibly slick service. The River Restaurant has recently been through a major refurbishment and all we can say is well done guys. Drinks were on offer as we sat down and menus presented immediately. Some in our party ordered crab as their starters while a couple of us went for the Arnold Bennett omelette and my wife had the Beetroot. Every single one of these dishes were amazing. For the mains four had the Sunday roast with all the trimmings whilst two of us had the Monkfish curry. All cooked to perfection. We failed to understand some of the negative reviews given as I believe that if one’s not satisfied with either the food or service, then this should be pointed out then, and if it’s not rectified at source, then indeed one should put in a negative review! We’ve occasionally had encountered substandard meals and service, when pointed out, this was immediately rectified or taken off the bill, so I’ve never been in a position to write a negative review! Any decent establishment will act to satisfy the customer, especially The Savoy. In closing we would like to thank Clifford and his team who went the extra mile in making today a very memorable experience. Obviously I had to find out who the captain of this ship was and was told that the senior general manager is a gentleman called Richard Roper. So well done guys and all we can say is a big thank you and look forward to our next visit in the not too distant future. Carol & Ellis Elias p.s Any idea who this tall guy is who insisted he have his picture taken with me! 😂More infoRiver Restaurant Gordon RamsayPrice: Moderate• Unspecified• Covent Garden•4.5
