Hawksmoor Wood Wharf is housed in an eco-friendly floating pavilion in a new riverside neighbourhood in Canary Wharf. Gently rising and falling with the tide, the main restaurant at dock-level is joined by a 120-seat waterside bar. Both include terraces with views across the water (squint your eyes and you might just see the ghosts of great ships laden with mighty lengths of timber that used to swing in and unload there). There's also a private dining room for up to 20 people named after the local legend Queenie Watts, a singer, songwriter, actor and self-confessed bawdy landlady (think Peggy Mitchell meets Joni Mitchell). The menu revolves around the best British produce the country has to offer with grass-fed dry-aged ethically reared beef, sustainable seafood from the South coast and some of the biggest hits from the Hawksmoor New York menu.

Great host, she was welcoming had a sense of humour, knowledgable about the food, alcohol and music, very good. The food was deliciously simple and creative. love the idea of a different chef, I think every six weeks. I had a super cocktail and a fabulous chilled red wine. The sound system was wonderful, to have all of the above and a listening session, my idea of heaven. I love the hush whilst listening to the featured album, not silence as it is a restaurant but pretty quiet. Lighting was dimmed and candles lit, yes! X

I would like to start by saying the food was insanely delicious—one of the best meals I have eaten in a while—but the service was TERRIBLE. After they took our food order, our waiter forgot about us and never returned to check on us. They were really busy, so I think they could have used one more wait staff member. It was painful trying to get a drink or even a refill of water. When we finally managed to grab on to a food runner, my wine was forgotten, so I had to walk up to the bar to ask for it. It happened again when we ordered our second drink; we had to go up to the waiter counter to ask for an order. If it's busy, order a bottle of wine and be done with it to save yourself the hassle. It's a shame because the food was excellent and came out fast, but the service and fighting to get a drink kind of just ruined the experience. I would happily return to eat there again and hopefully this issue is solved.

The food was interesting and tasty. What made it even more interesting was the option to have many dishes vegan or vegetarian, as I’m a vegetarian but my husband is a meat eater. So we could have the same dish.
