Alfonso Salazar, better known as “Dirty Al” originally started shrimping as a young man with his father and 6 brothers. In 2003, he and his youngest son, Cameron, who graduated from Culinary School, transformed his bait stand into a restaurant where together they have been known for having “The World’s Best Fried Shrimp”! In 2005, his other two sons returned home to help grow the business.     I give them 6 stars. An unexpected gem in Harlingen. Innovative, tasty. Great wine selection. You can pick a bottle from the wine "shop" in addition to the menu list. This place would be more at home in Houston or Austin where food of this creativity and flavor would be expected. I stopped to speak to a table in the way out and 2 of the diners had come up from Matamoros in Mexico for this level of cuisine. the RGV is home to fabulous bar-b-que and Mexican food. Dos Olivos is a wonderful addition to the region.
