Whoever says you cannot get great Southern cooking in Brooklyn has never been to Carla Hall's Southern Kitchen. Celebrity chef Carla Hall from "The Chew" and "Top Chef", along with business partner Evan Darnell, wanted to bring a taste of the South to the big city and that's just what they did. The staff strives to make every customer feel like family when they walk in the door. The fun, casual atmosphere fits right in with the Southern neighborhood restaurant vibe. Carla Hall's Southern Kitchen specializes in down-home food like you would get in the owner's native Nashville. Order chicken by the piece, choosing from chicken thighs, breasts, wings or legs. Pair them up on a platter with a piece of bread and two sides, such as candied yams or cole slaw. Choose your level of spice from dry (Southern) to extra hot.

This was our favorite spot during our 5 day trip, our first to NYC. Our 3 kids (12, 8, 7) loved every bit of this experience - from the food to the vibe. Don’t miss this great spot, 12/10 and they’ve already asked to go back tomorrow!

One of my favorite restaurants in NY. Sunday brunch feels like a big extended family. Great food, multi-generations, cozy and modern with the best energy. Best French Toast. Amazing grilled cheese with tomato sandwich . It’s all good no matter when you go. Classic NY.

This was our second time dining here. We loved it just as much this time as we did before. The pastas are incredibly fresh (and not over sauced with heavy ingredients) and the pizzas have that perfect wood fired taste. But the highlight this time was the service. Our hostess said she could easily accommodate our request for a window table (of note, the window seats overlook Ground Zero and have breathtaking views) if we didn’t mind waiting 20 minutes at the bar. We did that and enjoyed 4 different wines between the 4 of us. We highly recommend the Barolo. The wait was definitely worth it because we were seated in the corner window table that felt spacious and had a fabulous view. Next we were introduced to our server Ronnie who was fabulous at helping us navigate the menu and made our overall experience top notch. Ronnie’s service was impeccable, always around when we were ready to order, but not hovering, and a fun personality as well. We highly recommend eating here next time you are downtown.
