Melbourne Hwaro Korean BBQ is a place where one can fully enjoy that authentic Korean taste. Located in the CBD the restaurant is always full, even on the weekdays, as the smell of the BBQ floats down from the terrance stopping people in their tracks. Just like mother used to makeTaste is something Hwaro is particular about. Taste is what owner and chef Eunsook Kim is mostly concerned with. Her dignified and somber character, reminds many people of their own mothers. Kim herself is essential to Hwaro. The preparations for all the meat and sauce available at Hwaro are handled by Kim alone. This includes supervision of the slicing of the Karubi (boneless short ribs), and preparation of the 23 different ingredients* needed for the hot pepper Sangyu Pusaru seasoning. Nearly all of the seasonings lined up on the tables are Kim's own creations.

A PURE VIETMANESE STREET FOOD EXPERIENCE:To create something unique, you have to mix things up. Vietnamese food is one of the most diversified and influenced cuisines on the planet, but at its core, it is a delightful mix of shared native flavours and borrowed techniques. Without its French influence, Vietnamese cuisine would not be as we know it today. This coming together of two completely different culinary cultures, focused on authenticity, health and obsession to do simple things well, exists at the core of our passion. At Bon Bon Boy, we love what we do, and we welcome you to our restaurant as if you were family. We hope you love our food and feel our passion for Pure Vietnamese street food.

Felt like we were back home in Denmark for a moment there. The food, the atmosphere and the staff was amazing. Highly recommend the karry and the dill herring (and everything else)!

My wife and I had lunch there yesterday. The staff were courteous and helpful albeit still learning there craft. The meals although not large but for the price very good. I had the pa naeng chicken curry while my wife han the roasted barramundi, Both were excellent. The only downside was the vegetables were barely warm or I would have given it 5 stars. We followed up with the white chocolate pear desert and flourless lemon, coconut and almond cake, both were sublime. We will definitely be back next time we visit Melbourne.

We attended prior to a concert at Marvel Stadium. We booked ahead( a straight forward process using the website) and arrived slightly early. The place was busy but extremely organised and well staffed. Our orders were delivered promptly and the food was exactly as described. We therefore had a stress free and pleasant dinner leaving in plenty of time for our concert. It is not the place for an intimate dinner and chat, but ideal if you want good food presented on time and with efficient and friendly service.

Good food in a welcoming atmosphere. The staff waiting tables were a little green but they were enthusiastic which I will take over experienced and jaded any day! The food and wine menus menu were short but interesting with a large range of wines by the glass to match as you preferred rather than being limited to one or two reds or whites. We started with cocktails and were delighted with being served by the mixologist-sommelier himself and given the background story of both with some interesting information on the ingredients and why they were chosen. It was a lovely start and set the tone for the evening. The food was tasty, not overwhelming in portion size (we are still giggling about the micro-scallops!) and mostly reasonably priced (the micro-scallops were $22 and definitely not value for money - very tasty though!) given we were in Melbourne. We shared a dessert which didn’t ring any excitement bills but hit the sweet spot needed at the end of the meal. We would definitely go back and enjoy another meal at the Alexander Bar, and yes, we’ll be starting with a cocktail again.
