Restaurants near Houghton Street Historic District

Six in our group. Everyone loved their food and our server, Emily, was great.

Highly recommended winter experience! We enjoyed a wonderful family birthday celebration (5 guests) inside one of the rooftop restaurant’s igloos. The hostess seated us promptly at our reservation time and the restaurant was festively decorated for the holidays. It was a cold January evening and we were very comfortable inside the igloo with the lap blankets and warming stove - even without our coats. Service was great (thank you, Xavier) and the timing was appropriate for our two hour time slot. Craft cocktails and appetizers were creative and tasty (Brussels sprouts, birria queso and boom-boom shrimp). Main dishes (Japanese fried chicken, chicken teriyaki, Cajun chicken rigatoni) were very good. A couple of us wanted the cast iron roasted chicken but it was sold out. We had pre-ordered the chocolate dessert fondue and it was a nice way to top off our leisurely dinner. This was our first time trying the Mercantile and we all had a fabulous time! Location, garage parking and atmosphere worked well for our group. We’ll be back again for another igloo in the winter and are looking forward to meeting there during warmer weather, too.

Food was excellent. Service was great. Prices were reasonable. Easy parking near city hall. Only bump in the experience was the hipster dude with the flannel shirt and blonde streak working the hostess stand that had an attitude and no idea how to manage table seating. He needs to go asap. Otherwise everything was awesome.

Always a great experience at the bar. Everyone is attentive and the food is spectacular!

Each part of the meal came out perfect and on time. We got the Fra Diavlo mussels for an appetizer. It was a huge plate full of delicious and perfectly cooked mussels with plenty of sauce. We each ordered an entree. The food was excellent and very rich. There were plenty of leftovers so I would say the portions were large. The waiter was very attentive to all our needs. The atmosphere was quiet. There was a little difficulty finding parking as the lot next door has changed the way to park there.
