- GGregKansas City / Kansas •2 reviews5.0Dined 3 days agoWhat a wonderful and beautiful place on the ocean! We went for lunch just prior to our flight and had a great swordfish sandwich and macadamia red snapper dish. Staff was friendly and attentive….views were gorgeous and we saw some whales in the bay.More infoHualani'sPrice: Very Expensive• Hawaii Regional Cuisine• Lihue•4.8
- AAdamNew Mexico •6 reviews5.0Dined 4 days agoThe beautiful and historic grounds make dining at the Plantation House an excellent, all around experience. Service staff was all delightful, personable and friendly, but not overbearing and pushy. The focaccia bread and balsamic was a great start, being flavorful and well baked. I ordered the Plantation House Signature Oscar, which for this evening, was fresh monchong (sickle pomfret). It was described to me, by my server, as a cross between mahi mahi and halibut, which was very accurate. The cook was PERFECT, and paired nicely with the Parmesan crust. Slight variation in an Oscar-style preparation, in my experience, as they used a hollandaise (vs. a bearnaise) which was totally appropriate for this dish. The lemon enhancement with the hollandaise interplayed with the crab and sweet asparagus, perfectly. The overall theme of this dish was BALANCE, with intelligent restraint. The red bliss basil mash was also delicious, and the "truffleyaki", which appeared to be a truffle oil/teriyaki blend, was a triumph. Not, usually, a fan of truffle oil, but this is an example of why it was invented, and how it should be implemented in a dish. The composed bite from this dish is the BEST BITE on the island of Kauai. Portion size was adequate and leaves room for dessert, which I would also highly recommend. The Goat Cheesecake is also OUTSTANDING. The chèvre/cream cheese paired with tart lemon curd and fresh raspberries is heavenly.More infoThe Plantation House by GaylordsPrice: Expensive• Mediterranean• Lihue•4.6

- SStephanieCincinnati / Dayton •6 reviews5.0Dined 6 days agoWe dined at Duke's before heading to the airport to return home. What a wonderful "last meal"! The specialty Mai Tai was wonderful and the featured macadamia nut encrusted Mahi Mahi (featured fish of the day) was perfectly cooked and served with an amazing sauce. The service was very attentive and efficient. The view was stunning and dining room very comfortable and lovely. Be prepared for pricey - I thought more so on the drinks than my entree, comparatively speaking. I would definitely return.More infoDuke's KauaiPrice: Expensive• Hawaii Regional Cuisine• Lihue•4.6
