- EEliseVirginia •1 review5.0Dined 2 days agoExcellent Service: attentive, helpful, bright Food: very good, some parts excellent; crab soup delicious but lukewarm rather than hot, tea water - almost hot enough to brew the teabag provided. Short Ribs excellent, fried chicken very goodMore infoThe LocalPrice: Moderate• Contemporary American• Charlottesville•4.5
- NNoraVIPVirginia •31 reviews5.0Dined 5 days agoThe food at Public Fish and Oyster is consistently great, from the wonderfully fresh raw oysters to the favorite Brussels sprouts, to the perfectly seasoned fish. We made a reservation for this date as a pleasant distraction from the politics and the place had a happy, festive atmosphere. Our server, Alex, was attentive but not hovering (he was very busy and efficient). We always return here for special occasions and just because we want to enjoy some delicious food.More infoPublic Fish & OysterPrice: Expensive• Seafood• Charlottesville•4.9
- KKaitlinSeattle / Eastern Washington •3 reviews5.0Dined on Jan 16, 2025The Vibe: Slightly upscale without feeling stuffy. Cool bar area. Pleasing athletics and lighting and music was at a good volume. The Food: PHENOMENAL! SO GOOD! Steaks are cooked over a wood fire and there is just nothing like that sear and char on a wonderful cut of meat from an open flame! Love that the steaks were served with a side of sea salt. It was seasoning perfectly but the extra salt was a nice touch for those who would want it. Impressed! The sides were equally impressive! The tartare was so flavorful and seasoned well! The Service: Professional and timely. Very knowledgeable about all food menu items. Explained the cuts of meat well. The Cocktails: Okay. Classics were done well but nothing blew me away. Understand that the meat is the star of the show here! The Value: Worth it!!! Prices listed are just for the meat. Sides are not included. So just keep that in mind for your budget and what experience you would like to have! Overall: Highly RecommendMore infoBlack Cow ChophousePrice: Expensive• Steakhouse• Charlottesville•4.9
- TTomVIPVirginia •64 reviews5.0Dined on Nov 1, 2024Overall, five star. Nitpicks: we both had surf and turf. Wife’s steak was overcooked, more than requested medium rare. They offered to replace it but that would be wasteful. Accompanying shrimp were peel and eat which was unexpected. Otherwise, no complaints. We would go again if in the area. The inn was a great place to stay.More infoLafayette Inn & RestaurantPrice: Expensive• Southern• Stanardsville•4.4
