At the Restaurant at Liss Ard Estate, we are delighted to offer you a small sample of what makes West Cork unique in the most local and seasonal way possible. Our culinary ethos extends from the fact that we are in one of the most bountiful biomes in the world. Thanks to the abundance of nutrients in the soil, pristine watersheds, and a mild oceanic climate designation with plentiful rain and moderate climates, our chefs, garden team, and purveyors are able to grow about 95% of what we use in the kitchen within 80 kilometers of our Estate. The fisheries and livestock farmers that we work with sustainably supply us with incredible products that our chefs combine to create memorable dishes and which showcase the terroir of Liss Ard Estate, County Cork, and Ireland in a broader sense. As proud members of Relais & Chateaux, we strive to embody the 2014 declaration at UNESCO to preserve and share true culinary techniques and to eschew shortcuts that diminish excellence.

I went to Cornstore Restaurant last night for dinner with a friend, and I wanted to share my thoughts since I go there quite a bit. Right from the start, the welcome was great. I was running a little late (about 13 minutes!), so I called ahead, and they were super understanding. When I arrived, the manager showed us straight to our table, which was nice. We got our menus right away, and I noticed something about the cocktail menu – I ended up ordering a Mojito mocktail, but it would be cool if they were actually listed on the menu itself! Just a little thought. The service throughout the evening was really good. Every time our food was brought out, someone made sure we were happy with everything. Sometimes it felt like a lot of people checking on us (maybe four different people!), but I could tell they just wanted to make sure we were having a good time, which was sweet. All the waiters and waitresses were really helpful, polite, and seemed like they cared. This was my first time eating upstairs at Cornstore. It's a nice area, but it was a bit noisy, and it was a little hard to hear my friend sometimes. I definitely prefer eating downstairs because it's quieter there. The music they played was really good though and totally fit the vibe of the restaurant! Now, a little thing about the ladies' toilets. The last time I was here, they weren't very clean, and I told the manager before I left. He thanked me for letting him know, which was good because keeping the restrooms clean is part of the whole experience, right? This time they were clean, but there was a bit of a not-so-nice smell when you opened the main door. Maybe if someone could check on them a little more often, that would make it even better. Overall, even with those little things, I had a good experience at Cornstore last night, like I usually do. The service is always great, and I love their desserts and (non-alcoholic!) cocktails. I'll definitely be telling my friends to check it out!
