Restaurants near Monteverde Butterfly Gardens

I found Natu by accident, while googling another restaurant, and we decided to check it out... and what a happy accident it was! I am hesitant to write this review because the magic of Natu is the story, and I want everyone to experience it first hand, but also want it to be a well kept secret. We are world travelers and I can absolutely say that the drinks and the food are all worthy of a Michelin star, but that being said it's the people that provide a memorable experience unlike any other you will have in Monteverde, or maybe in the world. The thought, the details, the aesthetics, the whole vibe....just go....that's all I can say. It's a gem!

My family and I really enjoyed our meal. Everything was delicious and tasted incredibly fresh. The bone marrow appetizer was unique and great as was the lamb sausage. Three of us shared the Lamb Shoulder which was so flavorful and tender. The potatoes that came with it were cooked perfectly. My wife had the grilled shrimp and she loved it. The waitress made sure that that our one son who can’t eat dairy was more than taken care of. Really did a tremendous job assuring he knew what he could and could not have. Highly recommend. Would suggest making a reservation. I should mention that one of our kids is a trained chef that works in high end kitchens and he was also thoroughly impressed with our meal and service. One of the best meals we have had in Costa Rica. Pura Vida.

El Jardin is a beautiful restaurant with a modern, open kitchen and interesting variety on their menu. Unfortunately several of the dishes are missing the mark. My Domenico steak was so fatty and the dish tasted overwhelmingly like the grease from the meat, I barely ate it. The bolognese was too dry. The salad and vegetarian focused dishes were the best we have had in Monteverde. I think if they work on a few things this place can really shine.
