Thank you for visiting Kenichi Izakaya Carbondale. An Izakaya is a type of informal Japanese pub. At sake breweries during the late 18th century, people in Japan began using sake kegs as stools, and snacks were served. This small plate menu was designed to encourage sharing amongst friends and family. Food is prepared in multiple kitchens and arrives as it is ready to ensure freshness. We found the restaurant to be beautiful and the key to the success with the great people. The manager, Oscar, our server, John, and his assistant Igor were very attentive. The food was good, although we ate fairly late since we’ve been traveling all day. I would say the atmosphere in people are both five stars and the food and value a little bit less. But then again, when you were at a resort you do expect higher cost. I had a bison burger that was undercooked for medium and my wife had chicken noodle soup that is not on the menu. I think our bill was just over $150 with tip.

Awesome ambience, food and drinks! The restaurant came highly recommended and it did not disappoint. My husband had the best trout he’s ever had and my Moroccan chicken was superb. The cauliflower appetizer was delicious as well! Our waiter, Andrew, was fantastic as was the rest of the staff! We will be back!!
