The food was delicious, especially the cauliflower soup of the day. The servers were attentive yet gave us time to make food decisions and were gracious as we closed out the place without any pressure to leave. Excellent advice on menu choices by several of the staff made for a wonderful evening.

The Rotunda has been on my list for many years. Such an iconic building and beautiful setting. We sat at the window overlooking Union Square in one direction and admiring the spectacular stained glass ceiling above us. Our waiter Daniel was attentive, helpful, and friendly. I started with a bowl of their Porcini Mushroom soup -- rich, velvety, and delicious. For my entree it was a tough choice -- everything on the menu looked so good. I selected the Lobster Club Sandwich -- thick and luscious, with a heaping amount of lobster and avocado. I paired that with a class of white wine - Cuvaison Chardonnay. Prices are not cheap, but for a special occasion, it is all worth it. The setting, the food, the service -- all top notch.

This is my go-to place for lunch in San Francisco. It is quiet so it is a great place to have a business meeting - the tables are far enough apart that it is relatively private. The food is consistently excellent and the service is classy and understated. It is easy to get a reservation through Open Table; it seems that many SF restaurants are reluctant to handle lunch rezzies. The Garden Palace is pure SF old-time ELEGANCE - a special place - I hope it never changes!
