The Ox Barn is a 56-seater destination restaurant under the direction of Head Chef, Charlie Hibbert. Rooted in a passion for the local land, food and entertaining, the carefully curated menus are farm-based and plant-inspired. His team and the gardeners at Thyme work together to select and grow the fruits, vegetables and herbs used to create his Modern British Countryside fare. The nineteenth century former oxen house is the newest addition to the family of meticulously restored farm buildings.     We chose the table in the bar area which was ideal for us being by the log burner. Cold day! As a result it was a bit noisy from time to time, nevertheless we preferred it to the restaurant option. We enjoyed a very successful reunion with our university’s friends from the 1960’s and the food was good and the bill reasonable. We’d come again.

    Our anniversary experience was quite good although we were situated in a remote part of the restaurant when more appealing window views were available elsewhere. Food was well presented and generally ideal but the lamb took quite a bit of chewing. The hake was delicious! We had a main course and dessert only. No wine. £100 was quite pricey. Thanks for the complimentary Prosecco!
