Mushrooms are the heart of what we do at the Joel Palmer House. We have always endeavored to obtain seasonal and local ingredients and we use many locally produced greens, herbs, and vegetables, some of which come from our own culinary garden. We are frequently inspired by ingredients found in the cuisines of France, China, Thailand, Poland and India, so we call our cooking "freestyle." Our dishes pair well the celebrated wines of Oregon, especially Pinot Noir, Pinot Gris and Chardonnay. Of special note, The Joel Palmer House ranks as one of Oregon's finest historic homes and is on the National Register of Historic Places and the Oregon Historic Register.     We had breakfast there this morning and it was good. We made reservations ahead for dinner to celebrate our 53rd anniversary. We each ordered halibut, the parmesan was not at all crusty and the halibut was so firm it was tough cutting through. Sides were good. We were just disappointed in the halibut. Waitress was great, as was the server. She brought us a complimentary dessert and it was wonderful.

    Great, unique food and very good service. Pizza was excellent with the house-made tomato sauce. The cocktails are also unique and very high quality. The service was fast and friendly, and the place is not too crowded (tables are well-spaced) or noisy. Great place to hang out, enjoy cocktails, and good food. We go here often. In the summer, it's also nice to sit outside on the deck. Highly recommended.

    Wasia, Leo, and Nancy are amazing servers! Attentive and showing sincere customer service. Wasia ALWAYS ensures we receive our "locals" discount. I've ordered just about everything on the menu and have never been disappointed with anything. Husband and I recently enjoyed, among other tasty items, just about the best Caesar salad we've ever had!
