Located in the Heart of Sonoma Valley, Loxton Cellars is a working winery surrounded by 5 acres of estate vineyard. It is the intent of owner/winemaker, Chris Loxton, to produce handcrafted wines, made without compromise, that show balance and a sense of place. Wine tastings (no food) are currently offered by reservation and take place outdoors allowing guests to enjoy a lineup of handcrafted wines while taking in breathtaking views of the Mayacamas mountain range. Tastings are $20/person, include a flight of 5 wines and offer a casual and educational experience. The food and service were excellent. We arrived at 5 p.m. so service was prompt even though there already were many diners at that early hour. My only quibble is that the French press decaf for two turned out to be half a cup each. Either use smaller cups or provide enough beverage to fill the cup to normal height. The entrée prices were somewhat high but competitive with other similar local restaurants. The desserts, on the other hand, were $14, whereas a local upscale Italian restaurant charges only $10 for all desserts which are at least as good or better than Monti's offerings. The restaurant recently reopened after an extensive remodel, so everything was fresh and new! We were in a booth with very luxurious-feeling leather seat covering.
