Loved it. The food was perfect. The Rockfish appetizer was my fave and the oysters. Service was excellent. Chef came out and spoke to several of the guests. Steak was perfectly cooked tender and juicy according to my husband. The sauce on my striped bass was phenomenal! Pricy but worth it!!

Delicious food that was deeply flavored and surprisingly bright (sometimes soul food can seem super heavy and overwhelming). A perfect brunch spot. I’m eager to bring others and to try their dinner menu. Chef and staff were very pleasant and professional.

FABULOUS! We did not know what to expect from Julia’s, but we were excited to be in such an historical setting. We got to dinner early (after the Cal game), so we had drinks in their bar, which is adjacent to the restaurant. What a highlight-drinks were spectacular and old school while still being hip and cool. This is a great place for all ages in a stunning location. You really feel a part of the local history. Dinner—OUTSTANDING. All of our orders were different and really a fulfilling experience. The beauty of the building and its facilities makes this space unique, but really the team there, from the bartenders, to the host to the serving staff in the restaurant, are so professional and focused on hospitality—-something that is harder and harder to experience. We will be making this a regular part of our visits to Berkeley.

Excellent all around. Savory chanterelles with pasta dish went well with other starters. Drinks well described and delicious. Appreciate the flow of conversation enabled by the sound panels in the ceiling.

One of our favorite “neighborhood” restaurants for a dinner that is classy without breaking the bank. Great cocktails, wide selection of appetizers, pasta, and entrees — well prepared and nicely presented. The bacalao (salt cod) appetizer tonight was outstanding, the cod like little puffs of cloud on top of polenta cubes. There’s something for everyone, whether they like meat, fish, or vegetarian stuff. The vibe is casual but you definitely feel transported out of daily life (to an Italian trattoria?) and well taken care of. My one caveat is that the pasta servings are on the small side, but I guess that’s better for my health. 😆
