- HHarryHertfordshire •6 reviews5.0Dined 1 day agoTucked away close to Newcastle's thousand-year-old castle, the French Quarter is a gem that provides a memorable dining experience. It offers a harmonious blend of exceptional food, warm service, and an inviting ambience. The menu is thoughtfully curated, with French-inspired dishes that highlight a perfect marriage of flavours and freshness. On my visit, I began with an exquisite Rillettes de Porc with some off-menu toasted bread. I followed this with an indulgent Bœuf Bourguignon accompanied by a tangy Gratin Dauphinois and fresh Haricot Vert. The staff were an absolute delight—attentive, friendly, and passionate about their work. They were happy to make recommendations, explaining food combinations with detail and enthusiasm. Every interaction felt personal, adding an extra layer of warmth to my visit. The restaurant offered subtle touches of a French bistro, a cosy yet sophisticated charm. It's perfect for both intimate dinners and lively group get-togethers. It's not budget dining, but the quality of the food, impeccable service, and overall experience justify the cost. Portions are generous, and each dish feels crafted with care. Whether you're a fan of French cuisine or just looking for a memorable culinary experience, the French Quarter delivers on all fronts. I will certainly return.More infoThe French QuarterPrice: Expensive• French• Newcastle upon Tyne•4.8
- VValerieNewcastle and Northumberland •2 reviews5.0Dined 2 days agoFabulous game tasting menu. The outstanding course for me was the first course of teal and scallop. I always love a perfectly cooked scallop but the teal I thought was exceptionally tasty. My husbands favourite was the delicious risotto milanese. HELP! How on earth do I recreate it for him at home to that standard?More infoThe Potted Lobster - BamburghPrice: Expensive• Fish• Bamburgh•4.7

- DDotNewcastle and Northumberland •1 review5.0Dined on Nov 10, 2024I booked for 6 people for Sunday lunch but unfortunately 3 of our party were delayed by 40 minutes. The staff couldn’t have been more helpful and nothing was a problem to them . When we eventually arrived and our food was served it was delicious. Some had chicken , others lamb. Both were great, tasty and piping hot. Would definitely recommend and will eat there again.More infoPercy Arms HotelPrice: Moderate• British• Alnwick•4.6
