Restaurants near Theatinerkirche

I recently visited the Japanese restaurant KOI, and I must say I was quite disappointed. The sushi was served way too cold, making it less enjoyable. However, the biggest letdown was the tempura. The vegetable and shrimp tempura were barely recognizable as tempura at all. To make matters worse, the calamari was just overcooked in oil. Eating these dishes was practically impossible, as they were just greasy and unappetizing. On top of everything, the prices were quite steep. I expected much more for what I paid. Overall, I wouldn't recommend KOI based on my experience.

We had the crispy pork belly special. It was very flavorful and cooked perfectly. We also had the small salads, which had lettuce and vegetables as perfect as a summer garden salad. The waiter was attentive without being overbearing. The ambience is charming. Tables near the front of the restaurant look out to the opera house. We were delighted with our total experience.

I spontaneously booked a table for two, so I didn’t have much time to read reviews beforehand. We were pleasantly surprised by the ambiance and the beautifully designed interior of the restaurant. Our table was in the Red Rose section, which was a good choice for having an understandable conversation in normal decibel. The food was delicious and well-thought-out, even as fusion cuisine. The service was exceptional—friendly and attentive, even taking care of our coats and ensuring our drinks were promptly refilled. Overall, we’ll definitely be visiting Aimy again!
