Pompei, on Taylor Street, is a fast casual “counter service” restaurant. It has a long-standing history throughout the Chicago area ever since it was first established in 1909. When first opened, Pompei served only baked bread and cheese pizzas. Over the years, the restaurant has expanded its menu to include many delectable dishes that have quickly become favorites for many of the locals while remaining true to its original roots.The dine-in menu features Italian sausage, hand rolled pizzas like the Signature Pizza Pompei or the Four Cheese and Tomato, plenty of house made pasta like the gnocchi and cheese ravioli and an array of pizza strudels like the Beef Angelo and the Pompei Italiano.     Aba delivered a true 5 star experience. From the friendly wait staff attentively refilling pita bread to the delicious shareables, my 8 friends and I loved our meal. The family-style dining brought us closer as we collaborated ordering, tasted multiple dishes, and shared our favorites. I recommend the elderflower Hugo Spritz tower, which was light and refreshing, and the chicken skewers. We had mixed feelings about the Olive Oil ice cream, and did not like the truffle salmon. All in all, I could see us coming back in the future.

    My husband, daughter, and I have been coming here around Christmas every year for 5-6 years and love this tradition. The food is delicious, the Christmas tree is gorgeous, and the service is great! If you want to do something special to celebrate the holidays this is the place to be!

    This was one of my top five dining experiences ever! We got kitchen counter seating which I love- being right in the mix and chatting with the chefs is my jam! Cocktails were on point but the food…. I mean come on!!!! We had zucchini fritters, a butternut squash filled pasta dish that had this amazing rich and subtly sweet sauce, roasted beets with this crazy pop of pomegranate and risotto with a taleggio fonduta that I will be dreaming about for a very long time! Bravo, rose mary- you killed it!!!!
