Ospi is the sophomore restaurant of Jackson & Melissa Kalb, focused on Southern Italian cooking and way of life. The name derives from ospitante (“host” in Italian), with the expectation that guests will feel as comfortable at Ospi as they would at a friend’s dinner party. There will be plenty of house-made pastas as well as an expanded offering of pizzas. The beverage program crafted by Kalb features mostly Californian and Southern Italian wines and a full bar with a special negroni section. At Ospi, the pizza is inspired by the techniques of Antico Forno Roscioli which Jackson and Melissa frequented while visiting Rome. Focusing on Romana Tonda-style crusts that are cracker-thin, he is adapting a recipe that he feels will resonate with the LA diner. Willie Mae’s Scotch House, established in 1957, is a historic restaurant in New Orleans. After receiving the prestigious James Beard Award in 2005, Hurricane Katrina caused severe damage.     It was my first time at this restaurant. We ordered whipped eggplant with that famous “balloon”bread that is sooooo delicious! We also got Broccolini, Wild Mushrooms, Scallops and squid-ink Pasta. everything was delicious but Broccolini and wild mushrooms really stood out for me and my boyfriend. The Tiramisu was a bit heavy, I am used to a smoother texture but the delicious taste was there - not too sweet and right amount of espresso.

    New Years Day and we wanted some place that we knew would be fantastic, so where else but Gjelina? It was busy but the hosts and servers were unfailingly polite. We ordered 6 things from the menu. My wife's vegan so she had the vegetable sandwich (she had to fight me for it, it was so good). Brussel sprouts, grilled fennel, and the frites were all great. My son and I split the anchovy and burrata toast - a first for me - and it's my new favorite. Finished with the excellent pomodoro pizza - no cheese and none needed, because the jammy tomato confit is the star of the dish. I love this place. It never lets me down. Happy 2025!

    While the noise level ant my favorite the food and drinks definitely make up for it!! I have yet to have something that I didn’t like ! The green beans are a must and the short ribs are delicious!

    Had date night here and it was amazing! All of the food was so delicious and some of the best food we’ve ever had. We will definitely be back and highly recommend this place for a great dinner and cuisine that is one to remember
