Basically, the same great food and ambiance. But like many restaurants, it has cut back on little things that made it extra special (charging for bread that used to be free and eliminating a free after dinner glass of sweet wine).

Great little gem in the heart of San Francisco. Country French flare with a neighbour feel to it. Make reservations due to its popularity.

This is the first time back after a couple of years. We were not disappointed. The overall ambiance and service convey an authentic Parisian bistro, down to the velvet curtains at the entrance that block out the wind from the front door. The escargots, removed from their shells and drenched in parsley sauce, were divine and perhaps easier for someone having the dish for the first time. My duck confit was cooked just right. Although my daughter had to send back her lamb because it was too rare, it was returned pretty quickly, cooked just right. We did think the accompaniment could have varied a bit with the different dishes. They were all served with scalloped potatoes and salad.

always reliably excellent food and service. the warm goat cheese salad was delicious and fresh. my fillet mignon was cooked perfectly and my husband's coq au vin was bowl lickingly good. the floating island was a fun desert to share which was ample but not overly sweet. Love L'Ardoise

Not sure why I've taken so long to get back there. Great food, Great staff, Reasonable prices and we snuck in on a last minute reservation. Great location, it reminds me of a SF version or New York's West Village. We will be revisiting a lot more frequently now it's back on the radar.
