Why Le Gothique? Well, was there any other possible choice for a restaurant and bar set within the glorious surroundings of Wandsworth’s Grade II listed Royal Victoria Patriotic Building? A magical setting for special occasion dining, Le Gothique Restaurant and Bar offers flexible dining and drinking in beautiful surroundings all week long, impeccable service and a superb French menu. Imbued with all the atmosphere that comes with a history that includes time spent as a Victorian orphanage and the war time headquarters of MI5, Le Gothique is classically appointed to make the most of the original framework of the building, from the mezzanine restaurant to the bar below and out in to the large courtyard with its covered seating area. Very traditionally French, Le Gothique’s realistically priced menu offers numerous Gallic favourites from throughout the culinary regions of the country that spawned fine dining.

The welcome and service is wonderful. The location and ambiance are superb. It was a chilly evening so the heat lamps lit up our table. It was a birthday celebration and the person whose birthday it was had never been before. She was thrilled with the place and her sea bass. The starters were generous and delicious, the main courses perfectly executed and the puddings of fondant and sorbet sublime. We were well looked after in this authentic French restaurant and they even had Pernod available for the aperitif. We had a carefree evening with just enough attention and fantastic food.

This is a great restaurant with delicious duck and chicken; wonderful starters, beautifully prepared. Classic French cuisine in quirky, sedate surroundings. This restaurant is the cognoscenti’s secret so I feel guilty letting people know about it. Enter by the gate by the 219 stop on Trinity Road and as you enter the building things change. The decor is eclectic with a mezzanine area full of white tablecloths and burgundy dining chairs; candles on the table and a wonderful warm atmosphere. The wine list, like the food, provides good value and well-chosen wines. Love classic French food, you have to try Le Gothique!

I'd been meaning to try this restaurant out for a long time. Really good food, and generous portions. Staff were excellent. I look forward to going back.

A wonderful evening - the ambience was amazing - a real fin de siecle feel with a modern twist. Andrew kept our table although we were running late. The food was classic French with a modern twist. We had the assiette de burrata and charcuterie to start, the poulet saltimbocca and the confit de canard. All three were delicious as was the cheese we had to end with. We enjoyed the marvellous meal with a delightful Côtes du Rhône. Everything was wonderful from the service to the final glass of Sauternes at the end of the meal. For a French meal in south London, this has to be the best.

An interesting building and pleasant surroundings inside the restaurant, it would be lovely outside on a warm sunny day. The signage at the entrance to the restaurant should be placed higher up on the wall, when we parked in the courtyard we couldn’t see it, I think is poor that’s poor particularly as you have to drive all the way round the building. The food was excellent.

A lovely building but the upstairs section of the restaurant lacks the ambience that's portrayed in the pictures of the building. The food was fabulous, as was the wine. However, failing to write down our order resulted in our starters being entirely forgotten. I would go again for the food and the wine.
