The red metal sculptures hanging over the dining area at Culinary Dropout undoubtedly make the restaurant stand out. Of course, their impressive murals, focus on large parties and constant showcase of local bands doesn’t hurt their cause either. Those worried about getting lost in the Downtown Gilbert area will have no trouble finding this eatery thanks to the artistic exterior wall, blue hoop lighting and huge neon sign with corresponding arrow leading the way. They offer crowd favorites like pretzel bites, honey-drizzled fried chicken, 36-hour pork ribs and grilled steak tacos.

Surrounded by some of Chandler's best art galleries and independently owned boutiques sits the DC Steak House. This area has been listed as a National Register Historic District and there's even a microbrewery nearby. They’ve maintained the historical flair on the inside with vintage-style murals, photos from the “good ol’ days” and lighting one would expect to find in 1950s fine dining establishments. Guests are treated to a huge wine and beer selection along with culinary favorites like BBQ ribs, New York strip, lobster tail and Wisconsin veal chops.

Few people have had the luxury of enjoying fine Italian fare combined with the cuisine style of Coastal California, but that’s exactly what guests at Parma Italian Roots experience. This new restaurant in Phoenix offers an expansive menu that includes everything from pan seared salmon and filet mignon to margherita pizza and pappardelle Bolognese. Happy Hour offers low-cost drinks every weekday, and guests can kick back and enjoy an atmosphere defined by blue velvet seating, intricate lighting, strategically placed televisions and hanging foliage for that extra touch.

The fact that Wine Spectator called this eatery's wine list "one of the most outstanding in the world” isn’t what makes Maple & Ash potentially the best new restaurant in Phoenix. This accolade is definitely impressive, but it combines with a luxury atmosphere, unique menu and wood-fired dishes to really round out the experience. The candlelit tables, intricate lighting sculptures and fine dining atmosphere also stand out. With menu options like lamb chop lollipops, wood-grilled Spanish octopus, crispy pork Milanese and Alaskan King crab legs, though, it’s hard to identify the most impressive aspect of this eatery.

Before it even opened, MODERN Oysterbar Chophouse was predicted to turn Arizona's dining scene on its head. It easily lived up to this hype by offering innovative and fresh seafood options like Alaskan halibut, whole grilled lobster and delicious seared scallops. The focal point of the eatery, however, is the expansive oyster bar. The large stone pillars outside make the establishment hard to miss, but the contemporary decor – ranging from vintage ceiling designs to log-style walls – make it hard to leave without feeling a bit of nostalgia.

A combination of modern and traditional methods ensure guests at OBON Sushi + Bar + Ramen get a complete Japanese dining experience that they’re unlikely to soon forget. Located in The Grove and surrounded by lush citrus trees, canopied paths and trellised gardens, this new restaurant in Phoenix has style in spades. The interior features stylish art, a "shrine" with over a dozen maneki-neko figurines and a marquee featuring specials that looks like it came out of a vintage theater. Enjoy delicious Japanese favorites like pork gyoza, shoyu ramen, modern nigiri options and a variety of sushi rolls.

We went there a weekday evening at around 8 pm and the place was pretty empty when we got there. However, they were also very thinly staffed (2 wait staff that also served as the host and the bartender). We were seated promptly but then we waited for almost 15 minutes before someone circled back to take our order. The food came out pretty quick though. We really liked their new recipe on the hamachi-kama (yellowtail collar) with the glazed finish on it. The chicken bun was a little too saucy / spicy for my wife. The Obon ramen was fire as usual and the yellowtail crudo was also on point. The citrus dressing and micro greens complemented the fish really well. Overall, it was a great experience except for the initial wait.

The owner and executive chef of Arrivederci was born in Sorrento, Italy, and he made sure to bring a true taste of Italian fare when opening this new restaurant in Phoenix. The brand has served guests for over 18 years, and during this time, they've perfected classic dishes such as calamari & zucchini fritti, lasagna al farno, vitello porcini and the ever-popular Melenzana Arrivederci. The booths resemble large and comfy loveseats where guests can enjoy their meals surrounded by fine art, beautiful lighting and contemporary glass dividers that provide a unique ambiance.

Diners can find BBQ anywhere in Arizona, but if they want something special, they should try out the regional-influenced fare at Liberty Station that comes complete with a few Bostonian touches from the owners. It certainly sounds distinctive on the surface, and the menu follows through with offerings like brisket quesadilla, tavern burgers, red bird fried chicken and Boston cod tacos. The uniqueness continues with classic Americana décor. And when guests hear about the 500-gallon Camelback Smoker onsite, they know they’re about to get a taste of real Southern BBQ.

One of the favorite new restaurants in Phoenix – Volanti Restaurant & Lounge – overlooks the runway at the new Scottsdale Airport and provides breathtaking views of the city and McDowell Mountains. They offer service to the private jets nearby, so their fare is first class all the way. This is evidenced by a menu that features Cuban ciabatta, Irish organic grilled salmon, exotic mushroom bruschetta and house-made hummus. Guests should grab a photo of themselves posed with the hanging biplane before they head out for the day.

Although it’s a bit of a drive up the road, Keeler’s Neighborhood Steakhouse is still hailed as one of the best new restaurants in Phoenix. The upscale atmosphere includes luxury lighting, live music, vintage ceiling tiles and – for those who can’t miss the game – televisions at the bar. In keeping with its fine dining aesthetic, Keeler’s offers high-end fare ranging from filet mignon and lamb racks to diver scallops and prime rib au jus. Rooftop seating is available for those who want a beautiful mountain view while enjoying their meal.
