Nashvilllians love a good patio almost as much as they adore live music. Which explains why alfresco restaurant options here have exploded over the years.

Escape the Hillsboro Village crowds at a swanky steakhouse with a hidden rooftop. Cool off with a cocktail in a downtown wading pool. Book your own private cabana at a fun-loving neighborhood hangout, complete with margarita flights and lawn games.

Whether you’re looking for a lively downtown patio or a relaxed suburban oasis, Nashville’s got a place for you. Read on for a guide to 12 city restaurants that nail outdoor dining.

About the restaurant

Even though it channels a childhood dream, The Treehouse is well-suited for a grown-up date—or just a casual neighborhood hang. Its colorful exterior and wrap-around patio (with a dedicated outdoor bar) add to the playful vibes, which also extend to the New American menu. Order the whipped ricotta in truffle oil and honey to start and consider mains like koji steak served with cheesy mashed potatoes, crispy mushrooms, and herb butter.

About the restaurant

Geist is one of the few remaining examples of Old Nashville—with a modern twist. The chic interior (a former blacksmith shop) maintains an industrial feel, but the outdoor space can’t be missed: Geist’s full patio and courtyard, called the Champagne Garden, has an outdoor fireplace, wrought-iron fencing, and ambient string lights. It’s a beautiful backdrop for digging into reimagined Southern dishes like pork chops, roasted chicken, and vegetable risotto.

Excellent food and ambiance. One small glitch in that the meals came out before the appetizers. Staff were apologetic and it really was not a big deal in grand scheme of things

About the restaurant

Sadie’s bright Mediterranean-influenced interior is charming, no matter the season. But its circular outdoor patio steals the spotlight when the weather warms up. Grab a seat to sip on photogenic cocktails and mocktails, complete with fruity, floral garnishes—happy hour happens on the patio or at the bar from 4 pm to 6 pm on Monday through Thursday. Drinks can easily turn into dinner, thanks to exquisite dishes like whipped feta with honeycomb and Moroccan-spiced lamb kebabs.

We had an excellent experience at Sadie's, as usual. I could have made a whole meal out of the whipped feta with it s buttery light texture, and the pita was seasoned perfectly and cut into triangles for easy dipping. The spiced lamb kebob was tender and flavorful, and the beautifully chopped Israeli salad served as a salsa of sorts for all three of us. We happened to book a reservation at the end of their lunch hours (2p), which meant we had the restaurant to ourselves since they close between lunch and dinner. I have been there when it is crowded, and it can get quite loud due to the high industrial ceiling and closely packed tables. So, if you love to see and be seen, it's usually great for that. I prefer it quiet enough to talk to my family, so our timing worked great. Our server was attentive, and our order was accurate and timely. I love this place!

Warmer months call for crisp olive-oil martinis and prime people-watching on Epice’s airy patio, decked with sleek white furniture and greenery. Come at lunch for a lahmajin sandwich—spiced ground lamb, pickles, and creamy labneh inside fresh pita. Classic Middle Eastern dishes like sayadeya, a fish and vermicelli rice dish flavored with turmeric and coriander, take center stage at dinner.

Loved my experience here! They have great service and high quality food. The food was flavorful and delicious without sacrificing quality. It has a fun atmosphere, perfect for date night or a night out with friends. I got the salmon and my husband got the lobster pasta, both were excellent. We got the brownie for dessert (gluten free) and it was delicious.
