You might have a hard time nailing down the best pizza in Pittsburgh. After all, the Steel City has the second highest pizzeria density in all of America. Although New York City and Chicago get all the media attention when it comes to popular pies, the Yinzer (Pittsburgh residents) can hold their own when it comes to pizza. The city concocts unique fusion cuisine - ranging from chipped chopped ham to their take on kielbasa and pierogies. The giant crusts and loads of cheese on their pizzas bring patrons from all over. But where are the best flavor connoisseurs in town sitting down for a slice? Welcome to our Tastemaker Lists. We've gathered data from thousands of eateries across the country to find where OpenTable's most expert and seasoned diners go for a slice. Look at this list of the best pizza in Pittsburgh, and book a spot for a slice to remember!

About the restaurant
Even though there’s several locations around the area, BRAVO Cucina Italiana on the waterfront is the only place guests can enjoy a slice while admiring the Monongahela River. Those who look away from this natural waterway encounter décor that espouses fine dining at its best. No one can stop talking about the seafood, steaks, and chops offered here, but everyone also knows they have some of the best pizza in Pittsburgh. Start out with the pecorino cheese dip, but finish strong with pepperoni, margherita, or chicken + spinach pie offerings.

About the restaurant
The elegant overhead lighting in Pino’s Contemporary Italian Restaurant & Wine Bar pairs well with the theater-like ceiling – even if the walls and seating give off more of an Old World feel. The cuisine is a combination of Italian and Mediterranean, perfect for those seeking the best pizza in Pittsburgh. Both red and white versions are available, and each pie comes out thin and crispy. Whether guests want the authentic margherita experience or desire to be adventurous with the shrimp and spinach selection, there’s a little something for everyone to enjoy here.

About the restaurant
Just like its waterfront counterpart, the BRAVO Cucina Italiana McKnight location offers an unforgettable fine dining experience. The indoor columns and sepia photos on the walls harken back to an eatery right out of Italy. They offer happy hour specials during the weekdays from 4:00 to 6:30, but seekers of the best pizza in Pittsburgh will no doubt be happy at any hour. Their margherita and pepperoni pizzas are local favorites, but the artichoke + spinach dip, which features parmigiana pizza bread, is far too often overlooked.

About the restaurant
There’s nothing about Talia Cucina Rosticceria that doesn’t scream unique. The seating conveys luxury, and the art on the walls is transformative. Even the garnish on their cocktails is Instagram-worthy. They offer original and rustic takes on classic Italian fare, and this is what helps them serve some of the best pizza in Pittsburgh. In addition to classic and margherita selections, guests are treated to crab pizza and primavera – the latter featuring a delectable garlic cream sauce. This is one experience visitors won’t soon forget.

This place is quickly becoming one of my favorite places to dine before going to a show in the Cultural District. The service is excellent. They have an extensive wine list and they always offer seasonal cocktails that the bartenders come up with on their own. The appetizers and entrees are always phenomenal as well. Already looking forward to my next visit!

About the restaurant
After opening in the early years of the new millennium, Joseph Tambellini Restaurant quickly gained a reputation of offering a real slice of Old Pittsburgh. As it turns out, this wasn’t just in relation to pizza. The art hanging on the walls, elegant curtains, luxury lighting, and white tablecloths all harken back to the time when dining out in the city meant guests dressed in their best and made an evening of it. While the menu at Tambellini doesn’t offer the traditional pizza experience, the parmesan vitello features common ingredients one would expect on their favorite slice. This makes the eatery worth a visit.

All the dishes, from the appetizer, to the salad, to the entree and finishing with the desert, were excellent, as was the service.

Robinson Township
About the restaurant
There’s a reason why there are so many of these locations around the city: BRAVO Cucina Italiana eateries, including the Robinson location, have long offered some of the best pizza in Pittsburgh. This location maintains the fine dining atmosphere and Italian architecture features that are present in its sister locations. Of course, the pantone yellow color and whimsical signage nestled amongst typical strip mall stores does stand out a bit. Wednesday has specially priced martinis, and the pepperoni, chicken + spinach, and margherita pizzas are all worth writing home about.

About the restaurant
When it comes to authentic Italian ingredients, Vallozzi’s might be in a league of their own. This is because they’re one of the few – if not the only – restaurants that fly in their ingredients fresh from Italy weekly. If this wasn’t enough, the family-owned business has been in operation for over half a century, and both the inside and exterior look like a true-to-life eatery in the Italian countryside. They have a wide variety of pies that include selections such as prosciutto, pesto, Italian sausage, and Sicilian. There’s a little something for everyone!

About the restaurant
There’s a ton to enjoy at the Galleria Mall, and BRAVO Cucina Italiana is no doubt among the most popular. After a heavy day of shopping, guests can easily stop by the Galleria location without having to worry about driving to one of the many other BRAVOs in town. Just like at its sister restaurants, visitors can enjoy the best pizza in Pittsburgh while admiring columns and facades that look straight out of ancient Rome. This location offers the margherita, pepperoni, and chicken + spinach pizzas that are a staple of BRAVOs everywhere.

Cranberry
About the restaurant
Although the BRAVO Cucina Italiana location in Cranberry Township is the last BRAVO mentioned on this list, this doesn’t mean it’s not still home to some of the best pizza in Pittsburgh. It shares all of the exterior architectural features of its sister restaurants — along with the beautiful Italian columns inside — but it makes sure those in the northern suburbs of Pittsburgh don’t have to drive half an hour for great pizza. Guests should grab a starter of calamari while waiting for their pepperoni, chicken + spinach, or authentic margherita pizzas.

Oh, what a meal, and the service was wonderful. Had our 95 yr old Italian patriarch with us along with 3 generations. The zucchini parm with a couple sides of meatballs along with the grilled salmon and the chicken caprese was a wonderful main course. Capped off with cappuccino, some cafe tiramisu and creme brulee finished it off. Our server Sarah was perfect, efficient and sweet. Bravo's is always our choice for our family get togethers, they never disappoint! God bless America!
