This stylish Four Seasons Hotel steakhouse is a special occasion spot fit for presidents. Case in point: the Obamas hosted their 20th wedding anniversary dinner here in 2012. Our server and the floor managers went above a called beyond to make sure we felt Welcomed and taken care of. Class act staff The food was not only delicious. It was better than I remember from previous visits. Shrimp Cocktail with seasoned delightfully, all the appetizers were perfect , and of course my steak was exactly the way I like it . Great job

Delicious food and friendly service. My grandchildren ages 10 and 12 ask to go to Das whenever they visit. Their parents like it too. Whenever I have guests from out of town I take them to Das for a delightful dinner.

If your occasion calls for a full-fledged vegan feast, head to this elegant Federalist townhouse. Elizabeth’s Gone Raw was singled out as one of the best vegan restaurants in the world by the Evening Standard, and it takes just one bite of chef Francisco Hernandez’s artistic creations—watermelon skin tartare with nori confetti for the win—to understand why (a fully raw feast is available upon request). Note that the restaurant is only open on Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays evenings, so plan your special night out accordingly.

Mala Tang is a cook-your-own Sichuan food star tailor made for large and lively gatherings. It’s named for the distinctive hot pots served across China, and you’ll find groups digging into plenty of excellent versions on its many round tables. Go with friends or family to do justice to the spectacular soups, which come with dippable ingredients like prawns, fish balls, and more. Multiple broth types—ranging from mild to tongue-numbing spicy (Sichuan peppercorns and chile oil)—let you and your crew order mains according to heat tolerances. This place was on my to do list for a year. Did not disappoint. We had one hot pot, it was okay. Person who ordered said he’d chose more tasteful broth then we realized there were condiment bar he could utilize. Server could have been more helpful in explaining how to eat hot pot. The rest of the dishes we shared family style. Sweet and sour fish was crunchy and soft, a hit with all 5 diners especially our 6 yr old. Braised pork belly with tofu delish and savory. Duck dish as very tasty but the bones were too numerous and dangerously slivered. We did not give to younger diner. Boy choy and shittake was tender, could have added some oyster sauce. Beef w/rice noodles a hot all around too. All in all we throughly enjoyed the food, took home some containers for lunches tomorrow. My husband and I will be back again to try hot pot on our next trips to visit family who live in area.

Restaurant vet Ashok Bajaj (Bombay Club, Modena) is a pro at standing out in a city full of special-occasion hotspots. His latest took over the famed Oval Room in 2021, but it’s a far cry from the buttoned-up American restaurant it used to be. Instead, celebrations at La Bise are all about revamped French food made with surprising ingredients like pineapple and blood orange. Get the knockout pistachio mille-feuille for dessert and you’ll definitely score bonus points with the person you’re celebrating.
