Die gemütliche Traditionsgaststätte präsentiert sich seit dem Umbau völlig neu, hat aber ihr gemütliches Ambiente mit der Holzvertäfelung und dem Parkettboden behalten. Der Gastraum bekam große Fenster, die sich zur Terrasse hin öffnen lassen. Der Eingang wirkt jetzt offener und großzügiger. Modernisiert und verlagert wurde der Thekenbereich. Dort wird zünftiges Bier aus dem Holzfass serviert. Im Saal gibt es weiterhin die urgemütlichen Bänke und Tische, aber auch kleine Sitzgruppen mit Ledersesseln. Stammgäste müssen auch auf das kultige Ledersofa nicht verzichten, das jetzt einen prominenten Platz vor dem großen, grünen Kachelofen bekam. Amazing experience for the taste of German Swabian food and excellent beer! We got lucky to make it just in time for the last weekend of their seasonal beer- Berg Herbstgold! The interior is superb as well- starting from the door handles and end with the chandelier!

We asked for a table outside with a heater. It took quite a while for them to remember that we were out there but once we reminded them service was very good. I had the special "Holiday in Italy" which was excellent, with trout perfectly cooked. My husband had labskaus, also delicious. Portions were large.

Good restaurant overall! Good was really yummy, nice mix of International cuisine. Portion size is also good. But drinks were a big let down - have you ever had room temperature Margarita without salt on the rim? We are ok with variations if it tastes good, but nah! Even the cocktails were not exciting at all! We did mention it was a special occasion in the booking, but they did not care honestly! No one asked! Again going there? May be not!

Our lunch at Shimai was absolutely delicious. The chicken wings and special duck buns were amazing as was the miso edamame guacamole. Plus the atmosphere was cozy and quiet, perfect for a Sunday lunch in November. Our server was kind and attentive. We highly recommend this little gem in Munich!
