Calgary is home to some of the top restaurants in Canada. There are several traditional restaurants that have been part of its food scene for decades. These restaurants have a faithful following and serve recipes that have stood the test of time. Known as Stampede City or Cowtown, this city has its share of steakhouses and burger joints. Some are traditional while others have a more modern take on the world of beef. In Calgary, chic restaurants including sushi bars, cocktail lounges and stylish cafes are popping up all around Canada's Rocky Mountains. Many of the newer restaurants offer special menus for vegetarians or gluten-free diners. The farm-to-table dining experience which focuses on the use of local produce in the recipes is another popular trend with Calgary's newest dining establishments. There are also hip clubs and lounges in Calgary where diners can let their hair down. Stop by one of these to grab a drink, a late-night snack or a sweet dessert after going to a game or a movie. We were very disappointed that two of the main dinner courses were sold out. What we did eat was yummy but for a small menu, on what appeared to be a quiet Saturday and early dinner, was disappointing. The risotto was very good and so were the Brussels sprouts. Great for cafe food.

Overall - enjoyable and pleasant experience with our out of town business guests and when we decided to book with Major Tom - it was under the understanding and expectation that we would have had a much better table for the view of the city, as this is part and partial of the wonderful ambience to this venue. Once realized, that the table selected for our party of 6 clearly did not get the better of the available seating that was visible while we were enjoying our great service and food/drinks, it was just disappointing from that aspect, otherwise well done to the staff both front and back of house! Perhaps next time our clients from Dubai could enjoy a much better view to accompany the drinks and food... Cheers Dave

Was rather loud and very busy , however you can’t go wrong with the excellent atmosphere and food that the staff and chefs provide. I do feel that the Mexican food is a little white washed (lack of hot dishes) but the flavour is there almost a unique style.

I got the penne con vodka, it exceeded my expectations! the mushrooms were DELICIOUS, i love mushrooms so im bias, but the mushrooms and the veal literally tasted the same. absolutely amazing. the sauce was some of the best sauce ive ever had. absolutely amazing experience.

The service, choice of house Prosecco, surprise selection on the chefs table were phenomenal. I didn’t realize the restaurant had changed hands but you could not tell with Jan and Michel taking great care of us. And the food! Go hungry.

A delightful final evening with the Sensei Bar crew. We've been coming since 2021 and it's so sad to see it closing. We anxiously await what you'll be doing with the space. In the interim, we'll be sure to come to Olea to see you again.

Vendome is in a historical building in the Sunnyside neighborhood. It is within walking distance of the Bow River and Peace Bridge. Here, diners can eat indoors or outside on its very large deck. This modern cafe serves French, Spanish and Italian inspired meals such as avocado toast, rolled French omelette, cucumber gazpacho, steamed mussels, and spaghetti carbonara. Diners can enjoy eating at Vendome for any meal. It is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner. There is also a special brunch served on the weekends. Vendome has been serving the community since the 1930s.
