This was our second visit to Shaya...and just like our first visit, we loved our meal. We enjoyed three of the dips: Babaganoush, Ikra, and another that had anchovies. They were all amazing! Of course, the fresh, warm pitas would make anything taste yummy! Next we had the hummus with fried chicken. It was good, but wish we had gotten the hummus with lamb ragu which we had last time and it was truly outstanding. We enjoyed a salad, that could have been cut up a bit more. It was sort of messy to get onto your plate and eat. It was good, but nothing special. Finally we enjoyed the hanger steak and potatoes. Delicious! Tender. Juicy. Just really good. They have great wine selections and the service was appropriately attentive without being annoying. We will definitely return if we come back to NOLA.

About the restaurant
Come dine in this beautifully restored Uptown restaurant on Magazine Street and enjoy James Beard Award Winning Chef Justin Devillier's contemporary Louisiana Cuisine.

The La Petite Grocery name pays homage to the history of its home, a building that’s stood for more than a century. The original structure was built in the late 1800s and called the Central Tea, Coffee and Butter Depot. In 1908, a fire devastated the space and it was transformed into a full service grocery store. Later it was most notably a fine foods and butcher shop, VonderHaar’s Fine Foods until 1982. When La Petite Grocery opened in March of 2004, they similarly aspired to provide the neighborhood with exotic teas, locally roasted coffee, and fresh produce. By doing this, we hope to provide a dining experience that evokes nostalgia of old New Orleans. Reservations are preferred.

About the restaurant
Café Sbisa, established in 1899 and the third oldest fine-dining establishment in the French Quarter, is proud to re-open under the direction of a new team to once again offer the highest quality French-Creole cuisine in a welcoming, historical setting that both locals and tourists will appreciate. Spearheading the new Café Sbisa are Mr. Craig Napoli, who successfully ran the notable restaurant from 1992 - 2005 when Hurricane Katrina devastated the city, and Chef Alfred Singleton, who met Craig when he started working for him at the former Café Sbisa as a prep cook.

Now, the unique venue will once again open its doors to serve classic local fare like Turtle Soup, Louisiana Blue Crab Cakes and BBQ Shrimp using the freshest, locally-sourced seafood and produce. While many restaurants tout “fresh and local”, Sbisa means it, as the Napoli family owns their own seafood dock and distribution business in Hopedale, Louisiana.

We went on the recommendation of a local who’s aunt and uncle own this place. It did NOT disappoint. The service was exceptional and the food phenomenal. The prices were perfectly reasonable. Where do I begin other than to say Wow! we had such an amazing experience. The food was outstanding. We tried all the different oysters. We had some soup we had some gumbo we had salad and best of all we had the baked Alaska. All were amazing! more than the food, I have to commend your server Chuck he was so amazing and made our experience extraordinary. He steered us in the right direction for food, while giving us a whole history lesson of Antoine’s from the beginning to the end of our meal with little snippets of history and he was probably one of the most charming waiters I have en counted in a very long time . He truly is an asset to your establishment❤️ There is a restaurant in Paris called La Tour D’Argent that I love that does the endearing post card with the number of the duck you ordered just like you do with the oysters! Love that, as well as the famous wine cellar! We so enjoyed the experience and cannot wait to come back on our next visit to NOLA!
