Fabulous from start to finish. Booked a bar seat last minute and we were sat at the chef's table. My friend and I enjoyed this very pretty restaurant from beginning to end. The staff was very kind, efficient and seemed very happy to be there. Our time was up and our waiter kindly sat us at the bar. Our dishes were beautifully presented. Our favorites were halloumi and eggplant dishes. I will be back for sure to taste the rest of the menu. Thank you for providing an enjoyable evening out

My friend and I enjoyed this very pretty restaurant from beginning to end. The staff was very kind, efficient and seemed very happy to be there. Avelo Restaurant is located in a heritage townhouse on a quiet street in Yorkville and serves some of the city's finest plant-based cuisine. Our aim is to deliver an extraordinary and immersive dining experience where the servers guide guests through an exploration of many small plates highlighting seasonal ingredients while offering insight into each dish. We also offer an optional wine pairing and are able to accommodate many dietary restrictions with advance notice.

Avelo hosts two dinner seatings per evening where guests choose between the 5-course or the 8-course* tasting menu. The seating times are 5-6:15pm and 7:45-8:30pm.

Bar Vendetta distinguishes itself in a space that had previously been a fairly iconic restaurant, The Black Hoof, with a beautiful (and imposing) Douglas fir ‘glass canopy’ and a completely different, 70s colour scheme, modelled (very loosely) on Jen's teen basement bedroom in Scarborough. Nothing says 70s like brown, orange and cream! We didn’t want it to scream ‘Italian restaurant’ because frankly it’s only Italian-ish, using the philosophies of Italian cooking with locally available ingredients and a strong devotion to seasonality. Our pastas all made in house, by long-time chef, Annalisa Latavo and our front of house team is simply a dream! The sort of secret treehouse-feeling back patio is hugely popular in the summer, but we think of it as the perfect restaurant for a colder evening, cozy for tucking into a beautiful plate of pasta, with one of your favourite songs playing while you have a very nice Italian red.

It was my boyfriend’s birthday, everything’s great, the server has introduced us very nice red wine, and the food is fabulous, and they have prepared a cake for my boyfriend after everything and didn’t spoil the surprise, we would definitely come back!

In terms of vibe, the main floor is ‘everything’s gone green’, with lush comfortable banquette seating, warm wood, and barstools designed for long conversations over many cocktails. I am an occasional customer of George for several years. This is the restaurant that I would come alone, or bring relatives and friends for an exceptional fine-dining and tasting experience, and for an enjoyable as well as relaxed evening. The chef would accommodate our special requests and requirements, for example no raw seafood for me and no beef for my Buddhist friend. The main difference and advantage of George over other fine-dining/tasting restaurants was the provision of different dishes for the same table. For example, I had a table of three ordering the 10-course tasting menu. Each of us received a different dish for each course, meaning that the kitchen actually prepared 30 distinguished dishes for us. Every single dish was prepared carefully with the highest quality, intermixed with all kinds of ingredients and taste combinations. The fancy presentation for every dish was just like a piece of fine art. Each dish was given detailed narration when presented to us. What an eye-opening adventure! As for the servers, they were just like friends. They really cared about the customers and would even offer to arrange transportation at the end of dinner. They provided exceptional service and gracefully guided my senior relatives to the restroom. Thanks to Arnaldo, Chris, Kimberly, Robert, Ryan, etc., just to name a few. Although my guests were mostly non-alcoholic, there was one occasion that a guest tried the 10-course wine-pairing to his complete satisfaction. As for me, I always loved a glass of de-alcoholized red or white, which was not available in most other restaurants.

The restaurant is the brainchild of local entrepreneurs Matthew Simpson (Chef) and Jasmine Lee (General Manager). Partners in business and in life since 2007.

To further their knowledge of the Hospitality industry they made their way to Downtown Toronto, where they were able to hone their crafts working in upscale and well-known restaurants for nine years. The end goal was always assured though, that they would come back to the town that gave them their start and help bring a special space to the place that they grew up.

As you make your way inside, you will be met with warm wood, lush plant life and funky art deco accents. We want this space to feel as though you are stepping into our home and we welcome you all to Come Over for Dinner.

As always everything at The Springwood is delicious. The cocktail and wine menu are amazing Because we love it so much had the smoked trout spread with homemade potato chips. The calamari and bread and butter. For our mains the steak and the most amazing fried chicken we have ever tasted. Spiced carrots and fries as our veg. Everything was incredible. Lots of leftovers for our group of three ! We shared three desserts and didn’t leave a crumb. Service was perfect. Can’t wait for our next special occasion meal to share there again !

The service was superb, our server Z takes care of us well, and they even surprised us with a special anniversary treat. I found it so thoughtful.
