Alo is an intimate contemporary French restaurant located atop a heritage building in downtown Toronto. Our cuisine is internationally inspired and celebrates the finest in seasonal ingredients paired with a genuine sense of welcome, served as a blind tasting menu by Chef Patrick Kriss.

We had the tasting menu with wine pairings. Each dish and wine were carefully introduced with full explanations of region and details about the dish. The staff were all so friendly and the service was co-ordinated like a dance. The timing of each tasting was impecable allowing time to chat and relax The venue was easily accessible by TTC. I haven’t mentioned delicious- and my husband a veteran asparagus hater with almost eighty years of entrenched experience avoiding said vegetable emerged enamoured of asparagus.

Bar Vendetta distinguishes itself in a space that had previously been a fairly iconic restaurant, The Black Hoof, with a beautiful (and imposing) Douglas fir ‘glass canopy’ and a completely different, 70s colour scheme, modelled (very loosely) on Jen's teen basement bedroom in Scarborough. Nothing says 70s like brown, orange and cream! We didn’t want it to scream ‘Italian restaurant’ because frankly it’s only Italian-ish, using the philosophies of Italian cooking with locally available ingredients and a strong devotion to seasonality. Our pastas all made in house, by long-time chef, Annalisa Latavo and our front of house team is simply a dream! The sort of secret treehouse-feeling back patio is hugely popular in the summer, but we think of it as the perfect restaurant for a colder evening, cozy for tucking into a beautiful plate of pasta, with one of your favourite songs playing while you have a very nice Italian red.

What a great find! This restaurant has a funky and fun vibe and boy is the food great!! As you enter, you immediately enjoy wonderful scents emanating from the kitchen. We started with cocktails—both were tasty. Then we enjoyed the cheesy garlic bread that is so tasty and has a bit of honey that provides a perfect sweet flavor finish. And it’s nice and light, not heavy. Next was a salad with apples, celery, grapes, blue cheese and pecans—so good! We shared the pasta pomodoro topped with ricotta salata —a spicy kick at the end and the cheese melts in…yummy. For dessert we tried the lemon torta—scrumptious! We had great service from Mariah and it was fun to watch the kitchen staff prepare the food. This is a small restaurant and tables are close together—we enjoyed speaking with fellow diners at the table next to us. If you enjoy fresh and delicious food and pasta, then Bar Vendetta is a great choice!

Opened in 2010, Enoteca Sociale has become a mainstay for Italian Cuisine in the Toronto, built on the philosophy of making simple & honest Roman cuisine that can be shared with friends and family.

Through the years, Enoteca Sociale has evolved to offer a wider food offering comprised of traditional Roman dishes like Cacio e Pepe, l’Amatriciana and Carbonara. With Chef Kyle Rindinella at the helm the menu takes inspiration directly from Rome, remaining as true to the traditional culinary practices as possible. Our server explained the menu and answered all our questions. When we asked her what the house specialty was, she said " warm oysters". They were flavorful and definitely warm (which we were not accustomed to), give it a try but we wouldn't order it again. From start to finish everything was delicious. It was super busy for a Tuesday night but the noise level was moderate and ambience was mature, business casual and in general a good vibe ! Thanks for making a 50th birthday dinner special :)

My guest & I loved this restaurant for lunch. The food was absolutely delicious. Service was pretty close to perfect. Staff was very pleasant, welcoming, and helpful. Loved seating on the terrasse. A bit on the expensive side, but we don't dine out often, so this was worth the premium price. Overall, a very enjoyable and satisfying experience.

Lovely evening. I enjoyed the tasting menu option. Only disappointment was learning of each course as they were presented. Course description depending on servers that delivered item and their enthusiasm- each was accurate and professional but some were better than others. Meal is worthy of Canada's Best 100 Restaurants. I have had Michelin star meals that had superior pre-main course platings that were also less expensive even counting the Euro exchange rate. Main course was exceptional. Extra details will earn Michelin recommendation or star.

Lovely evening. I enjoyed the tasting menu option. Only disappointment was learning of each course as they were presented. Course description depending on servers that delivered item and their enthusiasm- each was accurate and professional but some were better than others. Meal is worthy of Canada's Best 100 Restaurants. I have had Michelin star meals that had superior pre-main course platings that were also less expensive even counting the Euro exchange rate. Main course was exceptional. Extra details will earn Michelin recommendation or star.

The end goal was always assured though, that they would come back to the town that gave them their start and help bring a special space to the place that they grew up.

One of our best dining experiences ever! Friendly, knowledgeable, attentive servers; creative delicious food (tomato soup, prosciutto, asparagus & lemony vinaigrette, lobster club sandwich with peppery fresh salad greens, salmon on bed of leeks and fennel with saffron sauce…) A delightfully memorable meal.
